UI update feedback
Heya!
First, I'd like to open up with some positives.
The new position of the character bio and customisation is alright. Not something I would say is needed per-se but we will get used to it. Also, the character selector scrolls a lot smoother now. Nicely done!
Now, here's what I'd like to see changed and what I propose.
Being able to cycle between characters with the push of a button (LS/RS, L3/R3, etc.), while not necessary, should come back. It was intuitive and generally saved time.
The new UI for character customisation specifically has lost a lot of what made it work well. Having the four large segments distinctly show what is equipped was generally pleasing. As it is now, the buttons are needlessly small and show no useful information about the existing loadout.. Also, with the sheer size of each individual option, it makes scrolling cosmetics take way longer than it needs to. Especially with the sheer number of charms in the game.
I propose this change.
Have the larger cosmetic category buttons that show currently equipped items return (outfit, head, body, legs/weapon) with the other cosmetics relevant to the currently selected section shown in a 6 tile wide scrolling section below it.
Add a button to toggle between character and charm customisations so that we may also easily see and change our equipped charms instead of the haphazardly placed box that exists currently. The charms menu should follow the same formatting as like I said with character cosmetics. I think a 6 tile wide cosmetic library is suitable as it isn't "too small" or "so big that scrolling is akin to desert bus."
Finally, when changing the sorting option, have it save. I understand that it's nice to have the newest character(s) of a given role upfront from a business perspective and it makes sense in the store, but many folks such as myself find it unnecessary and it ruins muscle memory. Also, it's Trapper's and Dwight's spots. Nobody else's. Vecna, Lara, I spit on you!
That is all. I hope this input is useful. I put a lot of thought into finding a middle ground between the new and old UI.
Thanks for reading. I'd love to see what other forum goers think of these as well.
