Knights companion symbol over his arm is not changing

Step 1 : Start a match as Knight
Step 2 : Press Ctrl to change the companion
Step 3 : Icon over his arm does not change from Carnifax, but changes after the cooldown is over as you can summon the companion again now showing the last one you summoned.
The Knights companion symbol over his arm is most likely meant for the survivors to see so they know what companion is he summoning and also for the Knight player to see easier without looking at the power icon.
