Completely unable to link my Nintendo Switch account

Hi,

I've been waiting for cross progression for 4 years ❗️❗️ so I was stoked when it FINALLY came out earlier this week.

I went and created a BHVR account yesterday, and connected my discord and my Steam accounts. I have not synced anything yet.

When I attempted to connect myNintendo Switch account, I got this message:

When cross progression was initially announced about 4 years ago back, I was prompted to create/link my DBD account on Switch to a BHVR account. When this is done, there is no email/username/password used/created alongside it.

Obviously, I have no way of accessing whatever game account that is referenced in the above posted screenshot. I have access to my Nintendo Online account and my DBD account on my Switch, but I have no clue how to remedy this issue. I have tried multiple things without a solution, and I have not received a reply back from BHVR Support yet.

For what it's worth, my other friends who have played on Switch had no issue linking and syncing their accounts.

Hi! I have the exact same issue! I tried to ask for help in the dbd sub reddit but they immediately took down my post and told me the answer is in the FAQ. It's not in the FAQ or the mega thread or in the comments, and I've looked everywhere for someone with the same issue. Have you found any answers yet perhaps? I can only tell you what I've tried that doesn't work.

Hi both, I would suggest using password reset function (on BHVR cross progression website) and trying your usually used emails including the one used for your switch account possibly to see which one you might have registered with. This happened to me the first time but thankfully I only ever use a handful of emails for registering to stuff and found the one it was connected to.

in your email client, type in search option for: Dead by Daylight, BHVR or ZENDESK to see if you have the original email you might have registered with (see screenshots)

And/or just keep checking different email address in the forgot password option in the website:

this might not be a BHVR issue, and potentially the same as forgetting a registered email.

Additionally, please make sure (important step) that the game is updated on all devices.

However in the worst case scenario, contact support:

    https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I’m sure they’ll do what they can but please do the above steps first as this solved it for me.

    good luck though!

Thank you for the detailed reply, but unfortunately, when you make an account for the Switch + BHVR, you are not prompted to use any email or create any password or username. It is simply connected to your Nintendo account. I confirmed this by logging into DBD on a separate switch account that I'd never played DBD on- when you log in, you are asked to confirm your password connected to your Nintendo account, and then it creates an account for you after asking permissions, or something like that.

My Nintendo account is registered to the same email that I created my BHVR account on, and I unfortunately do not have any relevant emails in any of the 3 email accounts that I regularly maintain. They do not seem to send an email confirmation when you connect your Nintendo account to BHVR upon logging in/giving permissions to do so.

Game is updated on both platforms, too.

I've considered revoking permissions and trying again with it, but I'm nervous that it will mess up the progress I already have on my Switch account.

In any case, I did email support on Monday, but I've yet to hear back from them 🙃

Again, thank you for your reply. Unfortunate that I haven't discovered a solution yet, even with some great recommendations. Hoping that BHVR irons out a fix sooner rather than later!

Still have had no luck adding my switch account to the proper BHVR account, and have received no reply from emailing support :/

Finally received a reply and it seems to be an email issue (according to them!)

However, there genuinely are only 3 emails that I use (for the past 10+ years) and apparently none of them are the correct one. This is astonishing to me because to my quite clear memory, I have only created a BHVR account with my main email address, and like I said, I was not prompted for an email, password or username creation when BHVR originally asked for permission to create an account upon logging into DBD on my Switch in 2020. The email that was in use at the time was also the main one I still currently use, anyways

I’m sorry to hear that :(

I know the feeling in general when a email issue has prevented me proceeding with something important.

Are you an iPhone user by the way? Is there a chance the password can be found in the ‘password’ setting

I’m guessing there is an Android equivalent to this as well but sadly I’m not familiar with the steps on it.

Not sure what other options there may be but I genuinely hope it works out somehow :(

I'm fairly certain that this isn't an issue on my end, though. I do not ever use any emails aside from the 3 I listed to them, and none of them were it. They did not reply when I gave them my mother's email address (which also isn't something I would have used, but I threw it out there, just in case)

There is an equivalent on android, yes, but I also simply can replace the password through those emails, so I'm not worried about the password stuff, since I still have access to all three emails.

Unfortunately, they didn't reply to my email listing another possible (but far fetched and unlikely) email, or the one where I asked if providing my player cloud ID would be enough to prove that I have access to and own the account I am trying to properly link.

Thanks for being so helpful, by the way, I really appreciate it. Just wish support would stick to the issue instead of having it so that I have to basically double text to get a reply 😭😂
