2v8 - It was fun while it lasted
alas. People (read: enough killers) have figured out how to be insufferable to ruin the mode (for me).
From the top: the past few days have been a blast. Glorious chaos and so much random ######### I found myself playing as much as I used to (and since I have a lot of free time atm that means about 3-8 hours a day).
Maybe it's because it's Tuesday. I kinda hope so. - But all matches today (during 184 minutes) have had all the insufferable stuff that has popped up here and there over the past days. What has been the exception (slugging once three people are left to def prevent hatch, forcing you to stay in the match for at time 10+ minutes (they let you get picked up in the hopes of being able to down someone else), Huntresses exclusively camping whichever 4-6 gens they can snipe (+ the occasional long range aim-for-red) accompanied by a Billy or Nurse just beelining to the area where whoever got caged should end up. - Or Huntress/Wraith + Billy exclusively going for instadowns, not even botherin to hook anyone until they got half the team down.
Back to back. To back. To back. To back. To back.
Ah well, ain't gonna get to mad about it, got time to spend and not on this.
The one note to the devs: If you do stuff like this and the mere thought occurs that maybe there's potential for someone using a mechanic/a feature to be a #########, assume that about three days in a sizeable number of people is going to be a #########. So maybe don't include features like that to begin with.

Usually I don't wanna be the one to bring the Us vs. Them mentality.. But in this case I will, since you mentioned the synergie of the instadown stuff.. This might be the first time that Survivors feel how those bully SWF squads feel like. Own medicine never taste good.
Apart from that - thank god not every killer team is like that. My hubby and I actually go for chases. We usually don't care about the gens. We also don't interupt groups of healing Survivors after they "unhooked" someone - we hate tunneling!
But in general you're right. Give someone the opportunity to be a jerk and many people take that road - no matter which side

I don't think it's being a jerk, it's playing to win. The dbd community has long had the mentality of win win win. Killers are figuring out efficient ways of securing the 8k and survivors are learning the fastest ways to gen rush. The first few days people were still enamored by the novelty of the new mode. Now they are settling into the new rhythm needed to secure the win for their side. Now, weather that's a good thing or not is a entire other conversation.

For me it's the differenc in frequency in normal mode (even during the phases where I do play a lot of killer I still run into significantly less bully swf than I run into bully-killers when playing surv) - but this isn't exactly about a us vs them. It's more along the lines of what you closed with; given the opportunity to be awful enough people will be awful, so that an otherwise perfectly good thing is ruined for everyone else. And generally that goes both ways… but so far I can't even see how survs are supposed to be awful towards killers in this game mode, having to be pushed out the exit gates aside and greeding a gen (and usually trading a down for it)… but at least there the killer has agency and can actually do something. - Then again; I haven't exactly played much killer, so I might just not know. Maybe you came across something?
If you win by being a jerk you're still a jerk. Easy as that. Both is possible at the same time. — In this context it's also not an entire other conversation; it's this conversation. That's exactly my point/opinion/feedback. It is not a good thing. Especially not in the context of this game mode specifically. (If dbd should go comp in normal mode is an entirely different thing indeed - but besides the point I was making.)

Humans optimize everything to perform a task well. The task in games is winning the game. Expecting everyone to just.... Not try is absurd. It's a pointless thing to lament, nobody was just gonna run around acting like they don't know what to do after they figure out what to do.
Especially those dastardly killer mains. We all know they're the problem, right boys?

You are just blatantly incorrect by this. If one side sees someone as being a jerk that's their problem. If the killer does something to help them win that's just playing the game. The only thing you can seriously call being a jerk is something a killer does that doesn't help them win. Humping or shaking the head could be considered that under some circumstances. But if it's just something to help win then it's just another playstyle, and if you don't like it, that's a you problem and not the killers.

tbh this is not just a 2v8 mechanic, this is just dbd
