Solution to the 2v8 Problem

You heard right, cut and dry, that's what I'm talking about.

I think there's a pretty simple solution to the 2v8 cue time issue and the concerns that keeping it long-term would harm the main game. make it permanently available, but ONLY through Custom Games.

Think about it, there's no cue issue because players would be cue-ing themselves manually. And for the concern of people that don't have friends (like me), there would DEFINITELY be Discord servers and the like set up to pair people up, if there aren't already. So that solves that.

But you're really only playing 2v8 to be two killers, so making it a Custom Game option allows you to keep that without trying to gather enough survivor players to join. No cue time issues, no impact on the main game, entirely focused on Killer fun. Just let two friends go in to a custom match and bat around 8 survivor bots, or if they have a handful of friends do that.

In that case, you don't even have to worry about balancing it. Just keep the Cage mechanics instead of hooks and 3 hatches, there. Done. You can leave the Killer powers stupidly broken, cause it's all for fun. No salt, no toxicity. oh who am I kidding, this is DBD, there's always gonna be toxicity.

But you know what I mean. Worth a thought.
