DBD keeps crashing, "known issues with graphics driver"
TL:DR; My graphics card doesn't support the drivers the game is asking for, crashing insues.
Long version: I recently came back to DBD after a 2 year break from the game and I've been having this issue where, at complete random, when playing killer the game will freeze for a second - tp me a few steps forward - and then crash completely. Sometimes it happens during the first match, sometimes it happens in the eleventh - sometimes it happens at the start of the match, sometimes it happens right on the gates.
Now I know * why * this is happening, since the game so kindly reminds me that my computer's drivers are outdated (shown below)
So the answer should be obvious right? "Just update your drivers 4Head". Weeeell, not quite. It seems that my graphics card is some ancient ######### artifact from the Mayan era and it won't support the version of the drivers that the game requests. Lucky me!
So what I wanted to know essentially is whether there's a workaround to this issue (tried typing "-dx11" on launch settings just in case, didn't change anything) oooor if I'll just have to bite the bullet and finally get a a new graphic card (newer than this prehistoric pos anyway).

What is your exact GPU?

Out of curiosity I literally looked this up. Several responses on the AMD forum related to R7 from asking to pull a GPU profile using tool such as GPU-Z or doing clean drive install with DDU : Display Driver Uninstaller. Seems to be limited support based specific x y or z builds.
IMO I would ask there. There not any obvious solutions but "just post there 4Head."

In addition to Aven's question, you could try installing the minimum required instead of doing the auto updater.
But DbD had to update to a more recent version of the unreal engine. It requires directx 11 which it looks like a radeon r7 should be able to run, but not sure on your version.

Your GPU is indeed a bit ancient.
However if I understand the message, the issue is for DX11. Why then do you try to force DX11 manually?
If I understand correctly, R7 has DX12 support.

I would say the same.
The thing is, I have looked into drivers for a few R7-cards and it looks like the driver OP has is not even the most recent one for the R7.
Therefore, I would suggest removing the current driver (a Tool like DDU should do just fine with that) and install the latest driver from the AMD website. Adrenaline 20 is indeed not the most recent one I have seen, it should be Adrenaline 22 something.

Hey guys, thanks for your attention! I didn't think I'd actually get so many replies so soon
I'm not very tech savvy so I may be missing something, but according to my pc specifications my GPU just shows up as "AMD Radeon r7". Sorry for not being able to add much to this.
The same message shows up when trying to run it with DX12, hence why I tried to force the game to run DX11 since the message says to either install the latest version of the drivers or switch to a different rendering API. As you can see however, all it did was to change "DX12" to "DX11" in the message.
I'll give this a try! I did try to update the drivers manually, but I haven't tried using DDU. Tysm for your help and patience everyone 🙏

You can press the windows-key (next to CTRL) and R at the same time. Then you can type in "dxdiag" which should show under "Display" (or whatever language your OS is using) which GPU is used.
You can get DDU from here:
You can get the latest AMD Drivers here:
Personally, I would do it in the following:
Find out which GPU you are using. Download DDU and the latest Driver. Start DDU and follow the instructions (you dont need to be in safe mode (if this is how it is called in English)). When your PC restarts, cut off your internet connection during that time, because otherwise your PC might install some driver it can find on the internet.
Now without Internet connection, just install the AMD Driver.
You should be fine afterwards and on the newest Driver. Maybe this helps.0 -
Just jumping in to confirm it is indeed called Safe Mode
