Survivors should have "abilities"
I REALLY wish if survivors can be more than just different skins. The best idea I think would be if every survivor had their own "abilitie", Kinda like how every killer has their own "power". Every survivor will have their own abilitie that is not tied to their perks. The sooner the dev team starts working on this, the sooner they will be able to come up with ideas and push it out, the more they postpone the more survivors they will add and the harder it becomes for them to be able to make a significant gameplay change like this.

Them you're stuck with a survivor with an awful ability that you've sunk all your bloodpoints in and bought cosmetics for. Like people are lobby dodging haddie because she can see locker auras or something worthless, but she's your favorite survivor. It doesn't work.

If people are going to dodge a looby so Let them. People are toxic over the simplest things. And in terms of the example you gave with the unique item combinations, well guess what? It's about items, and the idea is not.
e.g. Flashbang or blast mine or finesse or even invocation weaving spiders were Instead of being perks, that can be equipped on all survivors, were Instead you know, "abilities" but in return their much better versions too.
It doesn't make much sense "for me atleast" for every survivor to be running around with a flashbang, and that's why It will be better if it was an abilitie that only leon has, but it will be an even better perk/abilitie.
And that goes for the rest of the aforementioned perks. Like imagine if blast mine was actually useful like if e.g. It would counter pop for real by making the gen unkickable for 30 seconds or something but it will be balanced because it's jill's abilitie. And if you want to use it, you have to play her.
That was my original idea. I personally feel that something like this really will help out the survivor side and make it way more interesting and fun to play and add more variety to the game overall for both sides.

Not gonna happen. There's far too many survivors to retroactively add and balance special abilities :(

I really do not want people to dodge me as Survivor because I play Nea and her innate ability is Urban Evasion, so they think I am gonna rat all round. I really do not wanna load into a Lobby as Killer of four Jeffs who all innately have Distortion thus rendering my All-Seeing Stalker Aura Reading Ghostface useless. It would literally strip the personality and fun and randomness from the game. It cannot and does not work.
Also Blast Mine, frankly, is really annoying to be hit by multiple times just like any other stun perk. If I saw a lobby full of Jills and her innate ability was Blast Mine I would dodge it. I would legit dodge every single Jill-having lobby, every single time.

What about single pick? What if they make it single pick so that can't happen? So that everybody has to think who to bring in the team. And you can't just spam one survivor abilitie over and over again.

I think it's too late for that now. And then people would just play the survivors with the best abilities which means there would be even less variety in the survivors people play. Also imagine the uproar if some of the popular characters ended up with weak abilities?

For me, I really dislike the fact that survivors feel like for the most part just like different skins.
And are you happy with the state of survivors gameplay loop right now, or do you have any suggestions for making it more fun and interesting?
What are your thoughts?

TBH, outside of a few notable examples with noise levels, and the difference of animations, the survivors are just skins of one another.
The problem you've got is not all mechanics are created equally, certain things are just simply more valuable than others, and you can never get rid of that…. as such character abilities on survivor inevitably leads to a meta, like how in old DBD Claudette for example was used to hide because her dark skin made her much harder to see in the dark maps.
The freedom of choice based on personal preference is one of the biggest boons the survivor has for their investment… and while your idea is certainly a cool idea and sounds good on paper, in practice, it creates a whole load of problems for the game overall.

All it takes is one Survivor to have a somewhat decent ability and then Killers get 4 of that Survivor in games.
There are reasons to not do it, however I still think Survivors OUGHT to have special abilities. Its a cool idea. But I can see the bother in Game Designer's eyes when we ask for this.

Hear me out:
What if killers were to play with only 3 perks (+ their power)
And survivors were to play with 4perks BUT 1 of their perks were not teachable.Example: Only Meg would have Sprint Burst, only Claudette would have Self-Care, only Dwight would have Prove Thyself, only Jake would have Saboteur.
On top of that and to encourage survivor diversity, the own perk would become weaker if more than 1 of the same survivor are the same. Example: If there were 2 Claudette in the same lobby, their main perk (aka power) would become weaker. Instead of Self-Care healing you at a rate of 35% it would be 25%, and even lower if there are 3 or 4 Claudette.
I think this would be a good change? maybe? On one side the killer would have an advantage knowing 1 perk of each survivor. On the other hands, all survivors know the killer's power AND the killers would be playing with 3 perks instead of 4.1 -
I've always felt the same way, but it would have to be some very minor specialized ability to maintain balance so everyone isn't wanting a specific Survivor. In general, they could probably liquidate a lot of the never taken Perks and convert them to a version of special ability. They won't of course, but it is a nice idea.

The problem is, most things creatively possible have already been introduced into the game as perks. That is, giving survivors special abilities may require either hefty changes, or complete removal, of some perks.
That said, I do like the idea of giving survivors depth beyond skins. The abilities would be most appropriately based off what their teachable perks are.
Ace and Dwight, for instance, may have something that benefits the whole team; while Feng and Yun-Jin would have a specialized evasion ability.
Really, this would make DBD lobbies similar to running tabletop roleplaying games like D&D and VTM where a character has specialized roles and abilities that they can use to aid the group.

I am with you on this, but surprisingly, you were not the first one to come up with this idea, and whenever it gets brought up, people hate it, because it would mean that one to five survivors would surely have the best ability, and everyone would then just play those survivors, because they were the new meta.
One medium idea that I would like would be to either have survivors have one perk slot that permanently slots in one of their starting perks, thus giving them more of an identity without having to come up with 40+ new mini powers, or further expand on this and designate one "meta" perk of their loadout, ie the best one, and allow only them to slot that perk, barring it for everyone else. That last idea would be pretty radical, but it could be interesting.
I kinda think that "well, just let people have fun" or maybe "only allow one single copy of a survivor per match" and let the queue times sort out the meta, but people really seem to hate that.
So survivors will forever be just skins. Duh.

There's three big problems with this
- What others have said with retroactively adding this to so many survivors costing a lot of resources to do
- Even worse metas because everyone would choose survivors who have any gen progression related passives/chase passives and nobody else
- Survivors and Killers alike dodging lobbies to avoid the worse and best of survivor abilities.

I really like this idea. I have been thinking about this in the past. Like the character you are playing could use one of their teachable perks. Like a 5th perk. But you could only use one of their teachables.
Or if the devs could come up with something that fit their character. But then we could have classes like we had in 2v8.
I don't really know how to do this. Were just an example over here. I really like your idea. And I hope this can go up to the dbd mod crew.
