Weird case of a survivor escaping

so yesterday, i had (what i thought is a) completely normal match as Oni on the Ironworks of Misery. Game went okayish, last 3 gens remaining weren't really close, but i still had lot of Blood Orbs to fyel myself to protect them. Weird things start happening after i put 3rd surv on a death hook. All 3 gens remaining are at <10% repaired, and 5s after 3rd surv has been killed, while i eas going my way towards shack, i suddenly hear egc popping and 4th survivor escaping right after.

Now my question is: is there a bug that triggers egc right before survivor escapes through hatch or this surv was clearly cheating?

    They were absolutely cheating.

    EGC only occurs in 2 situations; When a gate opens (which requires all gens to be powered)

    Or when hatch is closed (which it couldn't have been since you never closed it)

    Gates take 15~ seconds to open. So unless they had Sole Survivor, Wake up and an exhaustion perk to run out when the gate opened, they were 10000000000000% cheating.

    Even if that wasn't enough of a giveaway, the fact that the last 3 gens suddenly had 10% progress each is a dead giveaway. Realistically, in the time it would take to travel to each gen and repair it by 10% (which NOBODY ever does) they would've been able to get a gen to around 70%, which is basically completed by that point.

    Also, since this happened when there were only 2 survivors left, only 1 could've been doing those gens. Definitely cheating
