Trapper's traps
There are certain maps where it is not even matter of skill avoiding traps. Having grass or really dark colour pallets on some maps makes traps impossible to see.
Versing a trapper on the swamp map for example is a nightmare. I rarely DC from games even when a Myers is clearly running tombstone. At least with a T3 tombstone Myers I can still have the opportunity to attempt a chase(assuming I got windows/pallets).
With a Trapper I have basically never escaped a trap. Call it bad RNG I don't care it's basically a free insta-down(exposed if you will).
I would love to see trapper get a rework that actually makes him fun to verse in these darker maps with tall grass etc…
All trapper does anyways is sets traps under windows and in major isles and always in grass if possible. So why not just take the first part and improve it. Just let trapper trap windows. Whatever that means from stunning the survivor for some seconds. To inflicting deep wound or even blocking the window from survivors being able to use it. Like block the window all game until a survivor interacts with the trap to disarm it. If the trap goes off the trapper gets a charge back or something. He can theoretically block all pallets and windows eventually if survivors don't disarm any of them.
For pallets you can make it so when a pallet is dropped the trap acts as a spring devise forcing the pallet back up. Maybe it breaks or it's not usable until disarmed again. When unarmed either the pallet can fall again or be reset. If it falls that would be an interesting mechanic to get a stun on the killer but it would mean progress is permanent.
Allow trapper to put traps maybe 2-3 gens where survivors are forced to do a hard-skill check game. If failed they scream notifying the killer. Maybe their aura is even shown I don't know.
I just think with how maps have been designed Trapper's traps have no place in DBD. Unless you want to make traps glow when close enough but that would defeat the purpose of having traps. I genuinely believe Trapper deserves a rework. He is a fun killer to verse on brighter maps where you can see traps. At that point it's just a matter of you not being observant or the Killer being strategic with his traps. In my opinion on Forsaken boneyard is the most fair map for versing trapper. Majority of the other maps are just RNG walking simulator.

While all your alternate trap suggestions sound great, the fact you think that Eyrie of Crows is the most fair map against trapper is insane. Eyrie has zero good trap spots, anyone with two eyes can avoid getting caught at all.
All maps have spots without grass, just use these to walk safely. Window and pallet traps? Disarm them when you see them, it's easy.
Dark and grassy maps are the only place where Trapper has a power. On maps like Eyrie, he is a weak M1 killer.
Plus the „RNG walking simulator“ only happens if the trapper decides to leave a trap in the middle of nowhere.

I don't find it to be insane. Unless you are SWF most solo queues will not have the foreknowledge of knowing a trap is on the other side of a window mid chase. I say Eyrie of Crows is the fairest map because when I get trapped or someone is downed to traps I never feel salty. I know 110% if I get trapped mid chase it's my fault.
On maps like Lampkin Lane I can still have fun in those maps. I think like you said avoiding grassy areas is best but the map tends to be a bit more lit up. Still the game just feel long and drawn out like a Legion match. I love chases and would rather my teammates get out while I die on hook in hopes of a good chase. So when the game just slows down or becomes this hyper paranoid avoid all blades of grass at any cost lol. It just grows boring for me. I care more about the fun than escaping ya feel me :P
Although, I think the points we both make furthers the reason why Trapper deserves some love and a bit of a rework. If Trapper broke loops forcing survivors to reset those loops would put additional pressure in trials. You'd have to reset loops but also reset health states while managing gens. I also just have really bad rng with escaping traps so I personally hold a grudge against them lmao
