Cooldown on survivors chaining perk stuns

I've been thinking about the current state of stun perks and how they're being used (or in some cases, abused) in matches (and yes, I admit that it's also inspired by an uptick of experiencing this first-hand in mine).

I'd like to suggest adding a cooldown mechanic that prevents survivors from chaining stuns from perks back-to-back against the killer. My idea is that whenever the killer is stunned by a perk, they could benefit from their version of the Endurance Status Effect (the one available during the Twisted Masquerade) for about 30 seconds. During this time, any further stun attempts from perks (I'd exempt pallets from this) would be negated, allowing the killer to continue their chase or whatever they were doing.

Reasons for my suggestion:

  • Chaining Head On into DS: Imagine this situation: you are chasing survivor A who runs past a row of lockers and survivor B, waiting inside one of them, pops out and stuns you with Head On. While survivor A books it, you go after survivor B and down them, only to be stunned again by DS, because survivor B happens to still be protected by it. Not only undermines this the intention of the multiple nerfs to DS to remove its aggressive use, but also does it make the game feel unfair and frustrating as the killer in that situation. A cooldown would remove this (final) aggressive use of DS.
  • Locker trolls: Another issue is groups of survivors abusing Head On in a row of lockers, just to toy with the killer. While I don't doubt that they find that hilariously funny, it's can be downright infuriating for the killer. With a cooldown mechanic, such tactics would be less effective, allowing the game to flow more naturally and fairly for both sides.
  • Exhaustion perks: The same issue caused the devs to add the Exhausted Status Effect: survivors chained multiple sprint perks together in a single chase, which made it almost impossible for the killer to catch them. With exhaustion came much needed balance and more strategic use of those perks.
  • Avoiding more direct nerfs: I would like to emphasize that this suggestion is a middle ground. Personally, I'd prefer seeing another nerf to DS directly, causing it to deactivate not just from conspicuous actions, but also when another stun perk is used. However, I'm not pushing for that. Instead, I'm suggesting a cooldown that would balance the game.

Ultimately, I believe that introducing such a cooldown or an endurance-like effect for killers when they're stunned by perks would be healthy for the game without negatively affecting the gameplay in an average match.

    1. I want to punish survivors who use them in an abusive manner, which I specifically mentioned. My idea wouldn't negatively affect you as a survivor in an average match, it's meant to stop edge-case abuse and trolling.
    2. If a cooldown intended to stop abuse decides whether you'll continue playing the game or not, then I'd say good riddance, you were part of the problem prompting me write this down.

    Did either of you actually read my suggestion or did you both just read the title and skip immediately to conclusions?

    These types of matches are so insanely rare that I'm really not sure they're much of a concern. Besides, if survivors are busy working together to mess with the killer they're not doing objectives.

    If your goal is really to stop trolling, 30 seconds is far too long of an endurance effect. Try something like five seconds.
