Worst patch of the year goes to...

edited September 2024 in Feedback and Suggestions
  • Execution of SM (absolutely one sided overkill nerfs I ever witnessed on any killer in my 8+ dbd years)
  • Nerf to Unknown (overall its a nerf, even if small)
  • Nerf to Twins (why?? nobody plays them anyway)
  • Nerf to Hillbilly (okay fair but when you add it up with other nerfs its all just nerfs nerfs nerfs this patch for killers). Funny thing is Hillbilly being so good got the least ammout of nerfs LMAO, how is this balanced.
  • Nerf to Lucky Star (whyyy??? can't you just keep the effects?)
  • Execution of Distortion (RIP)
  • We gonna Live Forever got giga buffed even tho it's fine perk as it is and might be overtuned now.
  • Quick Gambit is now "hey chase me killer click click" perk cool.
  • Some of these perks that got buffed are still kinda bad.

On positive note, Hillbilly did need some small turn down and some perk changes are good.

So I would say this update is like 3/10, majority being either very mixed bag or just awfull.

If these changes make it to live, then R.I.P. Skull Merchant, I hope you will be better in your next life.

And why are Twins getting a nerf is beyond me but what do I know. At least Charlotte could get a 10% speed boost while Victor is out.

Teamwork perks are also nothing for soloq, but omega buff to swf. Can't wait running 112% with friend without scratch marks with no downsides at all lmao.

I think this update is hype and overall pretty good, but the SM changes were insanely heavy handed and totally overkill, and I have no idea what changes they'll be making in the PTB or how she'll turn out after this.

I'm sure the most nasty perks or useless perks among the changed perks will be tweaked as people test them out in the PTB.

I mean this patch is great apart from Skull Merchant being taken round the back of the shed + some of the other killer tweaks. If they undo a bunch of the nerfs it'll be peak.

I dislike Skull Merchant, I think her gameplay loop is among the most braindead in the game with her skill floor being arguably among the lowest in the game with her skill ceiling not being very high (I'm not a "main" of anything before that shows up) and newcomer/casuals can't even learn anything from it, but those nerfs are utterly overkill and they are basically only there to silence complaints and "soft-killswitch" her until her actual rework later (there's apparently a post from a BHVR employee on Reddit which says exactly that).

Distortion nerf is absolutely overkill, it might as well be reverted to 3 tokens without recharge for the vast majority of the playerbase since basically every chases end on a hook. Not to mention how much of an indirect Nurse buff it is due to her often bringing full aura, just bringing new Zanshin alongside I'm All Ears would make mindgames against Nurse & Pyramid Head impossible in chase. It should be tied to gen repair (like, repair 35% of a gen or spend 35 seconds on a gen to recharge 1 token) so that rats who hide all game can't do it if they don't help the team (which exposes them to being found normally). The majority of people using Distortion aren't hiding all game, some do but the majority don't, they are simply not confident in their ability to run the Killer for long and prefer a more objective-altruistic playstyle.

I don't get the Twins nerf, there's barely any even if they are kinda boring due to all the slugging.

Most of the other perks are fine, although the Lucky Star nerf is weird and Quick Gambit and Corrective Action will be terrifying in good swf.

It's baffling that they kill Distortion in the same patch as giving more aura-reading and gen-speed perks. People will literally only run gen builds if they can't hide anymore.

Billy needed a cooldown nerf but the other changes are meh, won't make much of a difference.

Unknown nerf is odd, he's already rare enough that he didn't need any "nerf" other than a proximity-based zone where he can't put clones too close to hooked Survivors. Back-to-hook-Andys are common enough, Hag should get this too, why are Dredge & Singularity forbidden from being insane Back-to-hook-Andys but not them?

Finisher Mori+Mori offerings gone is horrible and should be scrapped forever. It's just unhealthy and promotes slugging for the 4k/tunneling even more than now, the last PTB to try this showed enough.

Hopefully the community makes most of those changes go away or reduced enough that we don't lose even more playstyle, perk & Killer variety.

Lucky Star isn't actually getting nerfed thankfully, that was a mistake that got carried into the Dev Update, we still keep the aura reading.

I think Distortion will still be very much usable, it's still rechargable. The extended duration helps it still counter Lethal and the like. At the very worst case scenario you'll still get 3 uses, and not every chase is going to end in a down (even if you're bad, sometimes you're just near the person the killer decides to chase instead, like if they come back to chase the unhooker).

Zanshin seems like it could be overtuned, the duration + having no cooldown seems kind of nutty? I could be wrong, but on paper it seems like it'll be a little bit stupid. Either way, that perk specifically won't be all that effective on Nurse since dropping pallets against her is pretty rare.

Nurse as an argument against aura reading seems kind of half-hearted anyway, since she's kind of obviously busted outside of Aura reading and needs dealing with independently. Nurse with 4 slowdowns is far more scary than 4 aura perks.

Ultimately we only got 3 changes to killer aura reading perks, and honestly I doubt we'll see Thwack and Predator all that much outside of people running niche builds. Zanshin is the only really scary looking one, and even then it might not be terrible in practice.

omega buff? They’re throwing the game if they’re bringing these perks and getting value. Easy win for killer

no downside? The downside is literally being forced to be together or risk a useless perk slot or 2. There is nothing efficient about running in pairs in dbd. That’s two people not progressing the match ??

I am glad people are dragging this patch through the mud before it even hits the PTB. BHVR deserves to be ridiculed for even proposing these ######### changes.
