bHVR ought to apologize to the Community for this Lights Out Modifier.
Its just straight up an absolutely horrible experience. I cant even be constructive.
And why cant we do the Tome Challenges in the normal mode, Why do you HAVE to lock them behind this awful mode?

I don't think they have to apologize, some people surely have fun. But I agree personally that it's horrible, I just don't find the concept of not seeing anything and constant smoke that makes my eyes tear up in any way fun xD

I agree with the tome challenges, but not with the rest. I‘m having one of the best times in this mode. It feels for fair as survivor, which I can‘t say for the normal mode and it is extremely chill to play killer. I never had a bad time on either side there and I played relatively 50/50 both sides.

It's arrogant to request an apology.

They just need to let light's out die and never speak about it again. The mode is trash and any resource spent working on it is quite simply wasted.

I’d rather them spend less resources in general for a short period of time and fix the game. Too many bugs, issues with killers, 2 year wait on twins for what, SM is nerfed into a toilet so she won’t function well, trickster has a lot of bug issues and wonky mechanics, Sadako still has a lot of issues, Freddy is still awful after 5 years, demo puppy needs qol, addons on a lot of killers still need to be adjusted correctly. Survivors solo queue experience needs help…. Let’s think about that….

yes
full court press release apologizing to the players who deliberately choose to play this mode despite having the regular mode readily available

You know it's bad when you scroll through the DBD category and not even Fog Whisperers are playing the mode. And this was not even 24 hours into its release.

This game mode is not fun for me. Too many of the killers get an unfair advantage. Turns out insta down killers with stealth are hard to deal with. And basically Legion and Plague turn into insta down killers because everyones injured constantly. I don't find not knowing any killer is walking up to a survivor on a generator fun. Stealth killers are massively hindered because now their stealth ability reveals them more than conceals.
Lot of issues and understandable that the marketing players, fog whisperers, want nothing to do with it after their YouTube video is made.

I'm having some fun in it but I agree this mode really needs to be left as a rare treat or occasional thing, and not last much longer than a week. It's clearly not everyone's cup of tea and I don't think people should feel forced to play modes they aren't into just to get cosmetic stuff.

And they should also worship the ground I walk on and appease my every whim.
In all seriousness, they don't have to bring Lights Out back again. It was fun for a good 5 matches, but it's not a very good gamemode and I don't think any amount of tweaking can change that.

I wasn't a fan of the first Lights Out already and while the candles are a slight improvement and I love that they replaced AFK crows with bats it's still not winning me over. Only put up with it until i finished the tome and now am eagerly awaiting the return of Chaos Shuffle. My favorite modifier of them all.
As survivor it's….. well. It is. A bit sad that most people decide to play stealth killers or Dredge just to be MORE stealth or make the game even darker. Which to me is admittedly a boring choice. The one fun game I had was against a Nemesis. Because you hear his STOMP STOMP STOMP in the dark and it feels like playing Resident Evil 2 all over again. Being chased by Mr. X and only hearing him stomping around but never truly knowing where he is or when he will show up. To me that anticipation is where horror can truly shine. But aside from that it was miserable. Didn't bother to pick any of the escape challenges for good reason.
As killer it's just too easy. The Dracula challenges were a bit harder since I'm not that great with him yet and I purposely opted to play wolf-only because I loved the mental image of the survivors seeing this red-eyed canine suddenly showing up from the shadows. The other challenges I obviously played as Wesker. There's nothing more fun to me than picking the killer with the biggest (ego) terror radius and taking that away. Which can make him look like a very angry survivor running at you when you're not paying full attention. So yeah. I went a bit for the memes as killer, but that was mostly because I know A LOT of the other killers are sweating buckets and barrel into their survivors that are just cheerfully raising their candles at each other to slug them all within the first thirty seconds of the game.
On a much more personal note I also must add that this mode literally hurts my eyes after playing it for more than a single round. Yes, it's Lights Out. Yes, it's meant to be dark. But holy shoot, it turns into a strain on the little eyeballs quickly and I don't enjoy experiencing physical pain while playing a video game. Hence the mode isn't for me. Did my challenges and moved on. Give me Chaos Shuffle!

I could not articulate this better myself, Well said.

What do you expect them to say?
"Sorry for releasing this completely optional mode you don't like and don't actually have to play." - BHVR

You dont know what an apology looks like? or did you want explain to you why a Service Game Developer have a reputation and responsibilities to their customers? Do you know what Player Trust and Goodwill is? You are really sending mixed messages here.

Some people like this mode, some people don't. I think limited-time modes are a good way to experiment: there are going to be some people who enjoy them, and it's a way to add a bit of fresh gameplay into the mix without making permanent changes.
The only issue I see is that all of the Tome challenges are locked behind it, which I disagree with doing. People shouldn't be forced to play limited modes to complete a Tome. A couple easy challenges that specifically utilize the element(s) unique to the mode are enough. Anything that can be completed in the normal mode should be allowed to be completed in the normal mode.
