Is 0.65s the actual minimum charge for Demo's Shred?

Wiki/people say that it takes 0.65s, with 1s for maximum charge.

From my observations, it takes 0.82-0.85s for the Shred prompt to appear upon holding M2. I get similar results from re-timing people's footage. So what am I doing wrong?

I remember having this same confusion when last playing 4 years ago.

What the wiki says is what the code says, all values on the wiki are datamined. Any in-game discrepancies usually come from the fact that the hud overlays tend to have a bit of "lag" (not sure what best to compare it to).

It's why you shouldn't try to get exact measurement from timing game footage, it will usually be off by fractions of seconds because of that "lag" or delay.

@Alionis Yeah videos are not precise, but my own numbers were gathered at runtime from CPU ticks. Tested this at least a thousand times and any shred attempt before the delayed prompt will just cancel the power (I'm not talking about the lunge before 0.65s).

I can't tell if it's just me, or everyone experiences this. So bizarre…

    Thanks for answering though.
