Exhaustion Status explanations are severely lacking compared to other status effects.
Dear bHVR, I have recently been trying to figure out the value of the new Perk changes and Genetics Limits stumped me, it seemed so bad to me, so I went and asked on discord and through a lengthy dialogue and questioning a fact that I was missing was revealed to me.
- Killer Perks that apply exhaustion sticks on the Survivor until the don't run for the specific perk's timer.
- The exhaustion effect does not last only 8 seconds. It can stay longer.
Now I have been with you since 2017, I consider myself a veteran and I have 5500hours on Steam, but only a few people can really understand the level of HUH? that I have been on for an hour now. My friends baffled at my ignorance, well lets face the facts I mostly play Killer and on Survivor I rarely run Exhaustion Perks, so how could I know? Does the game tell me well enough how this works and makes everything clear to a reasonable extent?
In fact my entire judgement of a Killer Perk (Genetic Limits and others) is dependant on me having integrate knowledge of a Survivor mechanic, meaning if I don't have the right facts ill misjudge it. And I don't like misjudging things, that's not the roll I wanna bake. So lets check it.
Lets start with the Killer Perks, Do they make the distinction?
It certainly says it lasts for 8 seconds, it does not say anything about it lasting longer if they dont run. But it does say it prevents Survivors from activating exhausting perks, so that's must mean I need to look up exhausting perk?
My suggestion is to make it part of the yellow italic part:
"Survivors don't recover from Exhausted when they are running and prevents Survivors from activating exhausting perks."
I checked all similar perks on the Killer Side, not even one of them mentions it.
- Blood Echoes, Genetic Limits, Languid Touch, Mind Breaker, Septic Touch.
When it comes to Survivor perks though, something strange is going on some perks say it, others don't.
Balanced Landing does not say it, but Sprint Burst does.
My suggestion is to make it part of the yellow italic part as well:
"Survivors don't recover from Exhausted when they are running and prevents Survivors from activating exhausting perks."
Survivor Perks that mention it:
Head On, Sprint Burst
Survivor Perks that dont mention it:
Adrenaline, Background Player, Balanced Landing, Blood Rush, Dead Hard, Dramaturgy, Lithe, Overcome, Smash Hit.
One more thing… One of my friends looked into your Game Manual too and we could not find any info about this.
The Game Manual just says the Exhausted status effect recovers after some time.
A couple of years ago, you took extra time to make sure the perks info was normalized and more clear. You should do it again with Exhaustion in mind, these things can be very important. Hope you can clear it up soon, I know you must be very busy these days. Until next time, stay awesome.
