The new content feels disjointed.

I didnt put this in PTB feedback because this not related to any changeables thing for the PTB, but rather things that are set in stone and the general direction of the game

In the recent past we have seen a trend of original Killers and their Survivor and Map having some connection. Lets look at the last 4 original Killers:

  • While the Unknown and Sable didn't have a direct connection, the map was where Sable looked for Mikaela. They were also active in similar time periods and regions, and both connected to the supernatural.
  • The Singularity was meant to help Gabriel and his crew, and the map includes their ship and part of an alien planet.
  • Thalita and Renato were witnesses to the Skull Merchants crimes and Shelter Woods include the Skull Merchants camp.
  • Vittorio originally hired The Knight as protection, but Tarhos defied him and locked him in a dungeon. The map is a city destroyed by the Knight, seemingly the one where Vittorio was locked up.

This trend was quite enjoyable for me, but sadly the Houndmaster feels like a total break from that. The Killer, Survivor and Map feel like they might as well come from three different chapters:

The Houndmaster is a pirate from the caribean, living hundreds of years ago. She tried to kill Molak, the pirate who killed her family by navigating him to a dangerous part of sea where she got stranded on an island that was influenced by the entity. She decided to hunt the pirate when she got off the island. On her way to do so, she killed freebooters and crushed a mutany. Finally she hunted his camp down, pretended to be a guest, killed Molaks son and then tried to kill him, but he was dragged into a fog by the entity and she chased after him.

It seems like it would make sense for Molak to be the survivor for her. We know evil Survivors are possible because Taurie is the survivor this chapter. We know Molak entered the fog, so him being the target makes sense as well. The Houndmaster feels no need to please the entity, and is driven by hatred of Molak, not a blind need to kill, so Molak would also give her motivation other than "scary entity is forcing her to do it", and her external motivation would make sense considering that her voice lines imply she despises them and sees them as lesser, which would make sense if she had a reason to think they were pirates (like idk, them working with Molak maybe). Another Survivor that would work is one of her crew member, it was already stated they attempted a mutiny, so it would offer very similar motivations and connections as Molak.

For maps it could be Molaks Hideout, or the island she grew up on, or the settlement her father founded or something. It would make more sense than a modern day mine, located in snowy canada.

The Survivor is Taurie Cain. She is from modern day and ever since she was a child she was member of a cult worshipping the entity. When she was little, her parents entered Göbleke Tepe (which is real and located in Turkey), an archeological site connected to the cult, where the cult set up a complex. They didn't come back out, so Taurie followed them inside, saving her father through the help of her brother who lead the monsters attacking them away. She grew up and rose through the ranks of the cult. When she was an adult, a young man secretly filmed the cult killing someone and posted it online. Taurie hunted him down and kidnapped him. She was ordered to kill him, but she hesitated, and even tho she ultimately decided to try to kill him, the entity took her before she could.

Due to this seemingly being a punishment from the entity, it would make sense for the killer to be someone who happily served the entity, maybe her brotherm, or another cult member or one of the beasts that attacked her family when she was young. It being a pirate from hundreds of years ago who kills other pirates and doesnt seem to know the entity even exists is weird.

For maps it would also be more fitting to do one of the Bleeds, maybe the one where she saved her father. Or maybe the place where she was supposed to kill Jordan. Or the place where the video of the cult murdering people was taken, since that sparked the whole thing.

The map we got was a snowy mine in ormond, where the workers have been visably massacred. My question is why? Like this does not fit a caribean pirate in the slightest and you could argue that maybe that the cult did this or there is a Bleed nearby, but there is no confirmation of that in the lore. The map has corpses, which does imply that something happened here, which makes it super weird cause it definitely seems like the perfect opportunity to integrate it with one of the character's lores, but they just didn't.

This feels like the most disjointed chapter we got so far. Yes, while the Killer and Survivor having a connection is a newer trend, the map having no obvious connection to the chapter is something I dont think we have seen before,
