2v8 Catchup Mechanic sucks

this is a joke for killers, when you get a good survivor group gens just go flying and your punished for hooking survivors really, 2.5% per hook is too much maybe 1-1.5% or 2%? but the 5% reduced speed for each gen done isnt really felt especially if gens have been 99'ed or have 50% progress and with the guide getting free gen progress after completing one with survs nearby for the next gen.

  • [NEW] Generator repair speeds are reduced by 5% for each generator completed. 
  • [NEW] Generator repair speeds are increased by 2.5% for each cage state. 

no thought was put into this mechanic other than "quick we need a bandaid if survs are gen rushing and killers are too fast". The survivors have enough help with medic, escapists, tons of pallets, guides, rebuilding pallets, but killers dont got much other then haste and undetectable and fast kicking. Not to mention queing for 10+ minutes only for a fast game seems like a kick in the nuts. Im srry but this has been my experiance of 2v8 not much in terms of fun for killers and the lacklaster of killer abilities.

    to me, it looks like a mechanic that artificially pushes killer to tunnel and actively punishes them for not tunneling. They should change Yui Jin's fast track perk to this effect where every time killer hooks someone, you gain 2.5% repair speed bonus. Now i kinda understand what Yui Jin's Lore character is about. The idea of surviving yourself so that you can become stronger while your teammates die. that is such backstabby type character.

    Yes, the problem is that this mechanic can basically be entirely negated, due to how many things Survivors have to push gens quicker in this mode (toolboxes, Guide class being up to four people with a large range and affecting everyone in that range, duoing on gens, reduced gen repair charges basekit, etc.). Killers thus have to slug from the word go or tunnel someone out ASAP because doing otherwise powers Survivors as a whole up way too much - and they already are extremely powerful in this mode.

    The mechanic punishes you for spreading hooks and NOT tunnelling, it was not implemented right. It should have been something like 2.5% PER KILL, not PER HOOK. I also, lowkey, think maybe Moris on Death Hook should be basekit in this mode in general or the pickup speed should be like having five stacks of Fire Up - having to pick up wastes time, that wasn't an issue in 2v8 1.0 because you could stomp Survivors. Killers didn't need more time wasters in the mode, SURVIVORS did. So maybe, a basekit gen control, slowdown, or regression would be helpful per Killer class - maybe one introduces ruin type hexes that can relight, maybe another is lockdown-info like a buffed Thrilling Tremors, maybe one is regression per kick like Pop.
