Certain challenge types should be retired

Tome challenges offer some nice little side objective to otherwise pretty monotonous games. Most challenges are not problematic as they simply require the player to either do something that happens organically during normal games anyway or equip a perk and do something that is related to the perk.

That being said, there are certain types of survivor challenges that in my opinion actively encourage maliciously sabotaging your team for the sake of the challenge or are just extremely luck dependent, which becomes very frustrating.

There are 2 types of challenges that I hope will never ever be in tomes again:

Hatch an escape: only found in tome 2, this is probably the worst offender. This challenge requires the player to use a key to unlock the hatch. Twice. To be fair, this challenge was made before the hatch update, so at that time it was just a pretty standard "use item as intended" challenge, but nowadays, this is the type of challenge that really encourages players to pick left behind and 3 stealth perks and wait for their entire team to die. All other hatch challenges also have this problem, I just thought that this one is the most egregious one.

Tough stuff: one of the emblem challenges. The only problematic one is the iridescent version. Iridescent unbroken requires the survivor to escape without having entered the dying state once. This, once again, either leads to players immersing themselves with a key and left behind in the basement, or simply leave the trial by self unhooking if they go down, both if which basically make the game a 1v3, which is a loss for the other survivors.

I think they should just make a general rule of not putting anything really difficult one might be stuck on for more than three matches on a path one would take as either Killer or Survivor, this way everyone can enjoy the tomes more thoroughly without feeling stuck, and check out side paths later for some spicy challenges.

The feeling of being stuck is the worst part imo.

the first few tomes were impossible for survivor. kudos to anyone who has those done. I have every killer one done but cant get the OG survivor ones done.

For me the most irritating is the "perform x action x amount of times in a single match". like pallet stun the killer 4x in a single match. i think i got that done only because of 2v8. then there is the iridescent unbreakable emblem. like escaping is already rare…now i gotta do it without getting downed!? Also did that in 2v8 lol.

I would probably care less about tedious challenge types if they at least paid out significantly more. It'd feel more fair to get a big chunk of iri shards or something out of completing a challenge that requires waiting several games for very specific conditions.

The developers made the challenges much better and easier so survivors no longer have to throw the game to get them done (e.g. cleanse 20 totems, open 20 chests, stay 10meters next to the killer). Similar to killers, you no longer have to get out of your way just to get the challenge done. However, there are still some really stupid challenges. The current killer challenge to close the hatch two times feels kinda bad because it will force the killerplayers to slug the last survivor so they can find the hatch. But there are also challenges that should be part of every tome like the green and white glyph since they are easy to do and give a good amount of BP when done right.

What I also hate is that we get less featured character challenges: In the Mythic tome, we got one Spirit and two Yui challenges which is kinda sad. I still hope one day we will get a special fifth page that only has challenges for the featured characters. That would be so cool.

Agreed, some of these challenge just makes the game even more miserable in solo queue which i didn't even think was possible.

They have been dumbing down the challenge in the latest tome. There is no challenge to tied to perks in either side except the one for Dracula and Belmont specific. The hardest one for survivor is either the two that are tied to escapes or the cooperative healing one. Hardest for the killer is either the gatekeeper emblem one or closing hatches.

There is no real challenging challenges in the latest tome and all of them can be gained in normal gameplay.
