DBD confirms Bot fills
Comments

Wow, I didn't expect to have my suspicions proven correct that fast. Good luck getting anyone to queue for events without a full pre-made team. ✌️

Agree 100%. This is a bad decision. There will be a huge net decrease in people who queue up for special events, which will just make the problem with long queue times even worse. I absolutely will not play either killer or survivor if I know there is a chance that the match will start with bot players.
6 -
They will probably walk it back after a couple of events of testing. I have no clue why any sane survivor will play with a bot. They run around the map 90% of the game caught in a endless loop of trying to excape the Terror radius. Any split pressure to the board and bot basically never do gens
6 -
Can't wait to find a 2v8 lobby with 8 survivor bots, because no one is going to suffer through that.
5 -
This is fine for a PTB, but putting bots in event queues is probably the fastest way to get people to stop playing an event. No one wants to play with or against bots. I would much rather wait longer to get a full lobby of real players, and based on others' comments both in this thread and back when that PTB change was tested that would've allowed bots to replace players who disconnected in the loading screen (which was reverted due to overwhelmingly negative feedback), I think most would agree.
I really hope this gets reconsidered.

Only bot I'd ever want to face would be one spawned by an Invocation
3 -
No.
let them stay in PTB dont fill our event q with bots. how can you guys think this is a good idea??
9 -
Wow, I thought people were petrified over nothing. I was thinking 'no way will BHVR ever actually do this in the game outside the PTB' . I was wrong on that, this is an awful thing to have.
I also think this will backfire. Throw bots in on the survivor side to ease queue times, more survivors will then play killer (or just not play) - necessitating more bots as survivors.

Glad there's at least community consensus on this being a bad idea. If it does happen, at least we'll hate it together.
4 -
Agreed. This will become a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. I won't touch any game mode with a possibility of bot-fills in the lobby. I feel like this could drive more players away from events and cause more issues than it solves. This would absolutely ruin 2v8 for me.
I already hate that bots take over for disconnected players in live lobbies. They just make bad games take longer to wrap up and don't improve the experience in any way.
5 -
And then no one plays Killer either. Then it's two Killer bots versus eight Survivor bots.
Trapper bot is then somehow bugged, wildly inflates the kill rate and as a result Trapper gets nerfed to oblivion.
Bots in actual games are whatever as long as it's a choice. Make a separate PvE queue for people who want that but keep them out of anything else.

Looks like I'm doing the 2v8 Tome and then going back to normal mode 😅
4 -
Survivors do not want to play on 2v8, so you replace them with bots ???
Don't you consider just changing your game to be more appealing to survivors ?Since it's asymmetrical with 4 to 1 ratio, you need 80% of active players to go for survivors queues.
7 -
SoloQ survivor is such a bad experience.
You just prefer to remplace the "void" with bots.
6 -
No one does. Totally agree. And for PTB, bots make total and complete sense.
Bots have zero place in a live game, however. (I believe this thread is talking about both points but not everyone is on the same page.) Events might be an outlier, but bots popping up in normal lobbies would be the end for a lot of players.
This is not wrong or terrible of said players as thats a choice and completely fine. But this will lead to even MORE bots, and eventually you could load into a game as killer with 3-4 bots as a norm.
My scenario is pure fiction and only an aggressively bad scenario lol. But it feels quite reasonable that it could happen.
Query: if you cut your wait time from 10-20 minutes to 1-2 minutes, how many bots would you be willing to go against in pre-game lobby?
6 -
If it does happen, we'll know BHVR isn't listening. Most already believe this, but like the perk, there's always 'Hope'.
4 -
I agree - BHVR is known to just "do things" on their own without warning. 1 to 2 bots at most. I wouldn't want an entire lobby of bots of course. That would be boring.
Sidenote still waiting for Killer Bots for Customs BHVR.

1 bot isn't going to hurt if it helps queue times drastically. I think its an excellent decision.

This isn't going to encourage people to want to play survivor in the events if they are going to be matched with bots. I was looking forward to the next iteration of 2v8 but if I have a chance of getting matched with bots I'm not going to bother playing DBD. May as well make custom lobbies award BP, XP, rift fragments, and let people complete challenges there if people are going to end out matched with bots anyway.
4 -
What makes you think survivors will be fine with that? Even less people will play survivor, i am definetely not gonna touch survivor if they are gonna force me to play with braindead bots from beginning of the match.
6 -
This is the effect I was foreseeing. A Killer isn't going to want to play against 2+ bots from the lobby. But on the flipside, survivors definitely wont want too either, perhaps even more. Just a hunch: outside of live games is tolerable. But bringing it to live will be very intolerable.
5 -
1 bot is going to ruin your experience? They do more than some players. At least they do gens. Thats more than what I can say most survivors on my team do.
1 -
Yes and as you see on replies, most people don't want bots in their teams. Good luck to BHVR to find survivors if they are gonna force bots into 2 v 8
I am sure killers will enjoy 2 killers vs 8 bots.
5 -
If they do this, I’ll stop playing too. Cause then they’re gonna basically Nerf survivors into oblivion and there won’t be any counter to it.
3 -
Good for them, I have a difference of opinion.

Harsher DC punishments does not mean bans it can just be increased time but your illiterate self makes it hard to comprehend that

Fantastic we have confirmed confirmation that bots will be coming to Events queues but not regular matches

Well the reality is SOMETHING has to be done...
Option 1 - Bot Buffs
I don't want bots either, but maybe if those bots are given strong team supporting perks to compensate to help the player survivors, it might be OK.
You give me a bot with a number of additional basekit things like: -
- We'll Make It
- We're Gonna Live Forever
- Resurgence (so targetting bots isn't so bad)
- Shoulder the Burden (minus the scream and exposed effect, that they use if they have few hook stages than the player survivor)
That might be OK. At least I as the player have decent support, and since bots tend to do gens better than a lit of players, it'll probably be fine.
Option 2 - Queue Priority Stacks
The only other alternative is you give a queue priority stacks to killers based on how many games of survivor they've played recently.
If you keep queuing for killer constantly, you get no stacks, and the further and further back on the list you go with the longest queue times.
If you play games of survivor you get pushed closer to the front of the list, maybe 4 or so becomes an auto jump into the top 20% of the queue, and you maintain your stacks -4 each killer game, so you can build up 20 stacks and then play 5 games of killer with fast queue times.
A mechanic like that is the only way I can see it working, you have "pay your dues" if you will to play the role that everyone wants to play.
Option 3 - Locked queues
A more hardball option for option 2 is to say, you can play 2 games of a side (likely killer, so I'll just say killer from now on), but based on queue differences you are then locked out of killer for a set time.
This way everyone gets a chance to play killer without absurd queue times. Instead of the 400% survivor incentive, at 100% there is no lockout, the 250% mark have the killer able to play 2 games, but are then locked out of killer for 15 mins mins. At a queue diff of 400% the lockout is 30 mins.
This is effectively no different to the longer queues, but the difference is the player knows how long the lockout is, and this drastically reduces the players actually in the queue, favouring players who haven't had a turn yet/in a while.
No solution will be perfect, but it's gonna have to be something like that.

When it's a 1 hour plus wait time the only experience is a waiting sim and since survivors refuse to give it a chance in the first even with the massive buffs they got they have only themselves to blame that this is happening
0 -
So just because people interested in killer role more, we decided to punish few survivor players with bot teammates? That's great logic. I am sure this will make more people to play survivor role.
I hope killer players will enjoy PvE experience because that's what going to happen.
6 -
Are the bots going to purchase all the newest Sable skins during the events that survivor players aren't interested in?
What if survivors did give it a chance and it wasn't a fun experience?
4 -
You really have no issues throwing out random 'facts' huh?
since survivors refuse to give it a chance in the first even with the massive buffs they got they have only themselves to blame that this is happening
What are you even talking about? And if you manage to figure it out, WHERE are you getting any of this info from?
If you enjoy destroying bots, make customs your new stomping ground, by all means.
Here's my take: BHVR didnt think it through with the 2v8 regarding queues, and this bot idea is their bandaid fix. Bandaid because it fixes nothing but queue times, while watering down the already watered down game.
6 -
You're mad that most people prefer to play killer with their friends?
3 -
There's a huge difference between being angry at a human player, and angry at code. If another survivor doesn't heal me and prioritizes gens, I know a human being is making that decision. It's part of the game that different people have different priorities and will make different decisions.
Being angry at the bot is being angry at the game itself.
And if they make the bots too strong, then killers will (rightfully) be mad about that.
