Can we revert the chest change?
It's really annoying having to now pick up the item after searching a chest since it just feels so slow. I just wanna get my item and leave.

If the item you found isn't worth taking, you'll have to swap anyway. At least this way, you always know what you're picking up.

Plus ANY item is worth taking if you don't have one, sure it might be a brown town medkit, but it's better than nothing.

There is no need to swap if the item isn't worth taking.
Any item is an improvement over carrying nothing (unless you're worried about stealthing with the smallest profile possible). If you are already carrying a better item, you won't automatically pick up what's in the chest.

I like the change since if I've got a yellow quality item etc and there's a brown in there I don't automatically pick it up.

On the PS4, if I was already carrying an item while searching a chest, I would keep my original item and it would tell me what item was sitting in the chest. I didn't automatically pick up/switch items if I already had an item.
I miss the old way. Since the change, I have searched a chest and then run off after without realizing I didn't pick up the item.

I would prefer it to be reverted. It's disappointing when I want the item in the chest (because I have none) and then a sneaky killer appears and chases me away before I can bend back over to pick it up.

It's certainly a confusing change. I see no good reason for it to have happened so i'd be all for it getting reverted.

For me on PC iot used to because of my mouse sensitivity being so high and keyboard so twitchy it'd swap over as soon as it opened up. Now there's actually a delay and I can see what's there.

I don't understand that but okay.

Come on that doesn't make sense. You hold M1 until search is done. If you already have an item, you have to release the button then click again. I can't see what mouse sensitivity has to do with it.
I'm very much for reverting this change too.0 -

I'm very much for reverting this change too.Because my mouse with the high sensitivity would count me holding it during the chest opening as a grab click if I didn't unclick it the moment the bar got to the end.

Sounds more like an issue with your mouse than the game itself.

Well I did turn the sensitivity down but also since the patch change I've noticed it's more forgiving including if the killer is lagging or I'm lagging.
One thing is perhaps make it a check box option that it automatically picks up an item if you're not currently holding anything.
I'm thinking of something along the lines of the chat options etc where you can check the box or not if you want x option to be enabled.

Idk why that change was implemented
I mean if you don't have an item and you're opening a chest you would want the item from the chest anyways... right?0 -
The devs indirectly nerfed looting builds by making the process of getting items out of chests take so much longer.
If I’m in the basement looting a chest, I don’t want that item to stay down there even if I don’t need it right away. I’d bring it up to a more convenient location for someone to find later on in the match.

I say keep the change but, in exchange make searching through chests 10% faster, to make up for the extra time it takes now to pick up the item.

I agree 110%; it just feels so clunky.
0 -
not to mention unnecessary
0 -
No... I like this change...

@Bravo0413If your mouse clicking is the issue, then why not work toward getting a separate button to pick up items than m1? That way, we could solve your issue without making repeated chest searching miserable for the rest of us.
2 -
There is no "issue" I just like this change it feels better

Im indifferent towards it. So, I dont care either way.

oops, my bad. I thought you were @powerbats
I dislike this change; it feels worse. I also think it was a bad design choice in terms of gameplay, making game mechanic interactions less frustrating, and time efficiency.

I am all for reverting it back to what it was before. Chests are already rarely used at high ranks, since the searching time is rarely worth it, because you could do gens in the meantime. Litterally no one asked for that change, devs. Revert it back. If you have so much time on your hands to do such little things, why not invest it in something useful, like, you know, fix bugs??
2 -
Devs, please, I’m asking for all the same reasons; increases in time like that don’t inspire players to go search chests instead of doing gens, and it’s generally not welcome.

I like opening chest and I still mostly find common items. Keep the chest change.
0 -
The chest rarity change or the sucky-double animation requirement to pick up an item change?
0 -
@Kind_Lemon the rarity change
0 -
The rarity change is fine to me too it's just the pick up change that I hate.
2 -
It could be solved by just having you pick up the damn item if you’re empty handed. I get the swapping items is annoying, but I just hope they add the pickup item when empty handed thing in. If that happens, theeen ok devs we square.
