When I play DBD, steam crashes and my game is frozen, bc obv it needs the steam client

When this happens I can't even pull up task manager to force close DBD, I have to sign out of my computer.
It has only ever happened while playing DBD and it has only gotten more frequent. Sometimes it happens playing survivor but now its EVERY match as killer. Somewhere in the 5-10 minute mark it has crashed my steam in every killer game I've played. Solo and 2v8. I can't find anyone with a problem that mirrors mine so~
Why happen? What do?
