Dedicated server is not responding; disconnecting…
Before I rant about this issue, I'd just like to mention I've played dbd since launch in 2016. Never in all of my years of playing have I gotten banned for a full 24 HOURS due to server issues beyond my control.
For the past 2-3 months, I boot up a game of survivor or killer and about 1 in 3 games everything just stalls out and I get disconnected at seemingly random times in the match. No VPNs, no bad internet, the game simply disconnects me giving the classic message "Dedicated server is not responding; disconnecting..." I originally thought everyone in the match was affected, however I soon came to realize it's a player specific problem that I was unfortunate enough to be cursed with.
So far I've reinstalled, verified files, restarted pc, restarted router, all of the customer support junk, "ipconfig cmd stuff, running dbd as admin, changing nat type" etc and nothing works. I wish I could say that I'd changed my internet or did something that might impact the game recently but this problem surfaced out of the blue and at this point I can only hope someone on the dev team could help me out or it magically goes away in a new update.
It's truly disheartening knowing I'll have to literally space out my playtime on dead by daylight out of fear of getting longer and longer dc penalties, which frankly shouldn't even exist. The only silver lining is that it appears I'm not entirely alone with this problem as EasternSpock's post: here details the exact same issue with many others in the comments expressing the same struggles. I'd really like to play a bunch when the fnaf chapter drops so I just pray someone at BHVR acknowledges how pressing of an issue this is for us unfortunate few. If you have a similar issue I strongly encourage you to comment on this post and make yourself known as this problem will probably never get fixed otherwise. 😢
