Animations are Optional/Misleading/Broken in DBD
In the spirit of "Health" that's been talked about since the announcement of the new initiatives, why does the game still believe it's okay to have animations that are either misleading, optional, or outright broken? They dont pass the eye test a lot of the time.
Part of DBD's character and longevity comes from its novelty and whimsical moments as seen in the hundreds of funny compilations of goofs and spoofs... but when you take away the funny music and meme sound effects, you realize the game simply is chalked full of jaw dropping moments.
I can't be the only one that gets slapped from a mile away, checks ping, only to see 65 and realize that's only fractions of a second. It makes it insanely difficult to learn timings, spacing, etc. And it's just a momentum and mood killer. It kills otherwise great chases only to be hit by something that doesn't connect on your screen. It hurts the competitive edge.
M1 Attacks:
There's are tons of examples in which a killer is chasing, you make a decision like faking a drop or window, the killer swings, you watch the animation miss (including the white air streaks), but as if God himself commanded it; you're now injured or downed. It doesn't help that sometimes it's like a weird ~t-pose equivalent~ animation as you fall. Why have the weapon length, swing animation, and marks if it doesn't pass the eye test? Why am I being hit by something when the killer is LITERALLY facing 180° in the opposite direction? Moments like that make you think you can't trust what you see.
M2 Attacks:
This is where the egregious cases are... Huntress's hatchet hitboxes are often the size of refrigerators causing the detonation zone to sometimes be a foot or more away in any direction.
Nemesis's whip can be DRUG in a manner that the blue line it creates isn't where you made contact with it, AND sometimes people exploit the ghost whip bug where his arm doesn't even come up to show he's using it.
Doctor and Freddy both will have their M2's detonate under my feet but sometimes not register as a connection. It's not welcome because it hurts my ability to actually know when I will be hit or not to determine my next move.
Lastly, i have games where the killer's torso (M Myers) literally was wound up like a slinky trying to spin and hit me. How about we get a grip on our hit boxes and get a server in Texas?
