Ideas that could be used to improve current Skull Merchant gameplay
Let me try to phrase these changes and their reasoning in a way I think people would've liked overall.
Revert the immunity from getting Scanned during Fast Vaults.
Can we all agree this is just a dumb nerf? Just overall really dumb?
Skull Merchant will only gain 5% Haste from Survivors who are Claw Trapped. This Haste can be stacked per Claw Trapped Survivor.
Now, I think what people actually hated about her chase gameplay was a "Singular Scan for Haste, into Basic Attack". Additionally, the current iteration of said Haste is a lot more convoluted than ever *and* has no indication on either side on when the timers are going.
By putting the Haste into Claw Traps only, it would incentivize the player to focus on getting Claw Traps and try to optimize that gameplay. Yes, eventually, she will get you but I feel like that's kind of natural within the game when you think about it?
I just think that in this way we hit a decent medium of both worlds.
Increased the SFX volume from Drone-specific Undetectable
Yes, there's actually a sound cue when she's Undetectable after placing Drone. It's just that it's so quiet that about 95% of players just don't know it's there. Not sure how exactly said volume is made and thus, I can't accurately estimate how much it would be needed in term of increase. That needs testing.
Decreased the TR fade-out time.
It currently takes about 5.5 seconds for her Terror Radius to fully disappear out. Given we are also increasing SFX from that Undetectable, it would've made sense to cut down this fade-out time. I would give it 2,4 seconds but it's up to debate.
Bring back the Stealth Mode. The singular Scan Line during that mode *does not* rotate. The Aura-Reveal while using Radar should show the static Scan Line.
Bringing back the potential Trap-focused gameplay here.I don't thinkanyone really hated it in general and more so of teammates not looking around for the Drone (It still happens by the way.). Making it not rotate would've made it closer to tripwire-style trap while making it relatively easy to Disable.
Increase the Scouting Mode's rotation speed to 120 degrees.
I know this might sound like a massive buff but remember that it's on a singular Scan Line. Before, we've had 85 degrees on *two* of them. So it's still overall less of area covering than before. It also makes it so you cannot really run past it anymore and actually bother to avoid getting Scanned.
Low Power Mode now reverses the Stealth Mode and Scouting Mode's rotation mechanic. Stealth Mode is at 60 degrees per second.
Obviously, with making changes like before, this Add-on would've needed a revisit. This is probably a decent rework but I'm all ears (Pun not intended.) on possible changes to it.
Prototype Rotor gets a rework.
I still can't find a way to change it. The reason is that it tends to encourage the issues people have with "Drone is too hard to avoid" and kind of bottlenecks potential changes to rotation speed of Drones. Feel free to suggest an idea for a rework.
Remove the height requirement.
Many people don't know that there needs to be enough vertical space for Skull Merchant to place Drone. It's due to the Drone flying up when she's on the same spot as said Drone. In that time, it gains special VFX and becomes Unhackable. In that moment, it doesn't Scan Survivors.
With VFX, the potential asset clipping issues seem redunant I would say and just removes a lot of weird clunk around said Power without having to change Maps just for a Killer.
CONTROVERSIAL: Remove the restriction around Hooked Survivor.
Hear me out first.
The Scanning ability does not instantly remove a Health State nor give a powerful mobility.
I'm 99% sure that Unhooking would've counted as a same action as Repairing, Healing, etc.
Considering the "anti-camp" that's been in the game for a while and longer Hook Stage…
I just think that it would remove a lot of clunk from her while not being really oppressive.
Well, if a teammate runs around you while you are Hooked, it should be on them, not on Killer. Sorry but I think that's just truth.
Feel free to add feedback and just not something among the lines of "Boo-hoo, SM liker" because it just doesn't help at all to anyone.
