Hound Master Adjustment Proposal

Why is the Hound Master so rarely used?

Is it because she's weak? No. While she may not be overpowered, she is overall well-balanced and, when mastered, has high potential. Among killers, she is relatively high-performing.

Is it because she has few skins? Yes, definitely. She and her dog need more attractive outfits.

However, I would like to discuss another major reason, one that rivals the lack of skins.

More than just being strong or weak, her controls are poor. She feels awkward to use. The dog gets stuck on obstacles, the detection targeting is clumsy, and it's hard to tell which mode you're in. These issues clearly stem from a lack of optimization, and often result in frustrating gameplay.

Below are some proposed improvements:

  • Normally, when specifying a location to detect, generators and gates cannot be targeted.
  • Holding the ctrl key while selecting a detection point forces the cursor to lock onto generators or exit gates for targeting.
  • If the dog becomes stuck on an object while creating a detection path, it instantly teleports to the killer’s feet and ends detection.
  • During a chase, the dog will no longer be obstructed by objects other than survivors and pallets. It will move precisely along the predicted path line that was shown beforehand (align the dog’s path exactly with the preview line).
  • Similar to The Clown, the screen edges will display a color-coded aura to indicate the current mode (red for chase, yellow for detection).

These are primarily quality-of-life improvements, but I believe they address what the Hound Master is currently lacking.
