Client Option for Heartbeat Audio

I believe having the option to disable the in-game heartbeat audio when within terror radii would be a welcome feature. It would give us the option to enjoy the actual music soundtracks more.

Given that this would only affect Survivor clients by choice, I do not deem that it would have any negative gameplay impact.

I also would like to see this. I have friends who had long covid and POTS that can't play because it triggers anxiety, but they would like to if they could turn the heartbeat sound off.

I agree that it shouldn't impact the gameplay negatively as there is a visual heartbeat and there is music too.

Help me out here, is them having long covid or POTS relevant to the heart beat? Your phrasing implies there is a causal link and an accessibility issue, but I'm struggling to identify the connection between them... Or is it unrelated and would just be a personal preference for them?

The biggest issue with introducing this feature is its quite a significant self nerf, since the heart beat is has subtle importance to gauge killer distance. You'd have to run the Visual Terror Radius otherwise the TRs become significantly harder to use.

Then of course there is the horror game argument, where causing anxiety is the entire point of the games design... all of which is to say... this would be an extremely uncommonly used feature.

A music archive might be nice though, maybe have all stages of their TR and chase music sometjing you can playback in the character bio screens. That'd be pretty cool.

I'm happy to explain that, I could have explained it better so the devs can understand the issue better as well.

They often hear their heart pounding in their ears which causes anxiety by itself. Hearing it constantly in a video game is also anxiety inducing. I'm not talking "oh I'm just a little nervous" its more so unbearable anxiety. They like to watch us play on discord but have to have the volume completely off.
They're not too worried about being great at the game as much as just having a good time, so they're not so worried about that being a "self nerf."

Changing the music according to how close or far the killer is would be really nice. It technically already does that but adding an extra layer or so to it would be useful here. Thanks!
