Is Gen Rushing a problem

I want to say right away that I'm not saying Survivors shouldn't do there Objective. That's not what this is on and is only focused on The Full Term Gen Rushing.

I was curious on what other people of this topic and if there's a need of some Anti Gen Rushing because I've had 5 games as Killer where the Survivors where able to do the Gens in a recorded breaking time. I've had games where on my first case 3 Gens Popped when the case I had only lasted about 20 secs.

I think a great QOL would to Add Some Anti Gen Rushing mainly for the newer players who just start the game

Is it a problem as a tactic? Not really, lots of times gen rushing still results in a survivor loss because the survivors are just slamming gens and thus are very open to being snowballed.

Should they slow down gens at the beginning? It depends, right now the beginning of the game is massively important to both sides. A long or short chase can basically decide the trial. I'd like it to be more evened out, but it would require broader changes.

Is a fully upgraded commodious toolbox too strong? Yes.

Gen rushing will slow down a little with a basekit change of survivors starting together as it will take more time to spread out, so the basekit change is coming.

i think genrushing is a wrong word to use for this kind of strat since genrushing is using toolboxes with BNPs and gen speedup perks to gain advantage of pumping the gens asap rather than relying on wasting killer's time.

The actual problem is early gen splitting, how easy it is and how little punishment there is for it.

Yes the new "survivor grouping at the beginning of match" is going to help with reducing RNG aspect of gen splitting ease, but it will still be a strong meta for survs.

In a sense, yes, in some aspects, no.

Are there things in the game that make doing a generator quickly too powerful? Yes. Should Killers have something to handle this that isn't just bringing a perk, and that this problem needs looking at again? Yes. Is generator pressure currently in Survivors' favor if they want it to be? I think also yes. Being stomped is NOT fun for either side, doing a good chase and losing 2 gens in 20 seconds is not fun for Killer and feeling pressured to bring strong gen stuff is not fun for Survivor. If I had my druthers I would bring no to little gen hold at all, but I feel I can't as the Killers I like to play due to the gen speeds.

Do I think it's a problematic tactic overall? No. Do I think we need to completely nerf toolboxes? No.

I think the solution is the spawn mechanic, and perhaps adjusting toolboxes a bit - at least ones similar to Commodious. Clearly making them more sabo friendly did nothing to change how toolboxes are actually used.

My view on it is in some cases, base progression/regression is far too slow, but you can't increase/decrease either when progression can be so fast and full regression builds can be extremely good against those unprepared.

I still would like to see some toolbox adjustments alongside these regression nerfs, then buff both base progression back to where it was with base regression from kicks being adjusted a bit higher, with perks that effect regression having slight downsides so they don't keep the base kick regression + strong regression perks. Kinda like how perks like Dark Arrogance and Rapid Brutality have tradeoffs, but with regression it makes more sense to have those tradeoffs if base regression was viable.

I love ur take on this. Honestly I've had situations where after I kick the Gen the Survivors Just got back on the Gen and finished it 20 secs after kicking it and do to there only being a limited amount of regression on a Gen there should be a small buff to Regression to help give extra Value regressing. But i don't fully think Regression or progress is the issue I think it's amount of time it takes to finish or regress a Gen. I would like Gens to take longer to Finish and regress but also give more blood points for finishing Gens, Hooking survivors and Unhooking Them. I just want a balance.

    • for me, gen rush does not exist, or rather it is a very controversial concept (like tunneling concept)... each side must do its job as quickly as possible. Imagine if a survivor came to this forum and complained because the entire team died with 4 generators to repair and calling this "kill rush", he would be considered crazy. With the average quality of survivors, generally smaller maps, less safe pallets, average killers "powerful enough"... in 2025 I think it makes no sense to talk about "gen rush". Obviously if you are a Pig on "The Game", with an organized team and toolboxes .... well you will have a very difficult game. But if you are a Billy or a Nurse in (for example) "Rancid Abbattoir", you can have toolboxes and brand new parts .... as a survivor you will have a very difficult game
