Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

What are some good solo queue survivor builds for inexperienced players?

In solo queue, I've been mostly running perks like WOO, Kindred, Deju Vu, Lithe or Bond but I've been wondering about what other kind of survivor builds for solo queue would be good for an inexperienced player that mainly plays without friends in solo queue matches, I'm somewhat decent in looping but not exactly the best and i mainly do gens, heal or go for unhooks, what are some builds that you would recommend me?

    • From what you wrote in your description, you are practically perfect.🤣 the perks you use are "good", so my advice is to continue in this way. Maybe I would advise you to add an anti-tunnel perk in your builds, like DS or Off The Record... in reality these are perks that not only benefit you, but the entire team😉

Kindred is an absolute must for even experienced solo queue players, so I'd recommend keeping that on. When I got to actually practice looping in custom games, they actually recommended to me not to use WOO, as it would hinder my ability to learn the vault locations on my own. Now since most map variants have been removed, learning vault locations should be a little easier.

One of my biggest struggles, even now, is locating gens, so Deja Vu is a great perk for that. And then figure out which playstyle you enjoy the most and put on some perks around that. For example, I like healing, so I combine Botany Knowledge with Do No Harm.

For unhooking I like perks like duty of care, wmi, and mft.

I still use this perk frequently to this day, as being able to get team mates healed super fast and back into the match is so strong. If you know you know but I think this perk is still way under appreciated

either study content creators and their moves or play your own game and gain important knowledge of the game
    or
play the game and gain experince on the how and know to's.

soon you'll learn that its more psychology/luck then it is skill. (when it comes to the 1v1)

i would recommend something your team lacks heavily or something you specialize in where other people arent as good,
healing, saving, looping, gens, endgame, knowledge, stealth/support, ect.

but my important recommendation is to not get addicted and to have fun. survivor or killer.

Perks that people sleep on, especially for newer players:

Fixated - When you're new, understanding the mechanics of scratch marks, and when to run or walk, can be a bit confusing. This perk shows you all your scratch marks, so you can see, and understand, how Killers can find you so easily. Especially people who jump in lockers, or crouch behind a wall, thinking they weren't seen, so they can't be found.

Lightweight - I use this frequently in my builds. It helps to evade Killers, and once you know how the scratch mark mechanic works, you can use it to throw them off completely when your scratch marks fade out, even though you're standing right around the corner.

Aftercare - Probably the most powerful information Perk, and no one ever runs it. I like Kindred, but I find Aftercare to be much more useful in terms of information gathering. You know right where everyone is, as long as you get a heal/unhook on them, and they can see where you are so you don't have to stop what you're doing to run off and heal them. They can wander over to you for assistance.

Other than that, We'll Make It, Iron Will and Calm Spirit tend to be in my rotation. I rarely, if ever, use an Exhaustion perk. Generally only when I need one to do a Challenge. In my eyes, they are a waste of a perk slot since they can only be used once and then you have to deal with the Exhaustion cooldown. At the top level of play, I'd imagine they are valuable, but mid to low levels, they are worthless until you learn how to judge when to use them.

If you are unhooking a lot, Babysitter is a great Perk, as well as the old reliable Borrowed Time. They can help the unhooked survivor tremendously, especially if you're facing a killer intent on tunneling one person out asap. WIretap is a good one at times, and if you want to play support, pick some Boons and have at it. Finding a good spot to drop a Boon down can be a chore at times, but they can be an excellent boost to the team's gameplay.
