Dead by Daylight x Deltora Quest

This idea has been on my mind for a while now: a collaboration between Dead by Daylight and Deltora Quest, the series by Emily Rodda that lives both in books and in anime. The connection between the two worlds is deeper than it seems. Both explore dark atmospheres, terrifying creatures, decaying environments, and themes like manipulation, betrayal, and resistance against overwhelming evil. It’s a crossover that would make sense — and could bring something genuinely unique to the game.

How Dain Came To Dead by Daylight

The Killer would be Dain. A traitor disguised as an ally, who earned the trust of the Resistance before striking at the perfect moment. In Dead by Daylight, this could turn into a completely new gameplay mechanic: disguise. Dain could temporarily take on the appearance of a survivor, approach undetected, and then strike. It would create a constant state of paranoia where no one knows who they can trust.

Lore-wise, Dain was never on the side of good. He was a pawn of the Shadow Lord, sent to infiltrate and steal the Belt of Deltora. Once his true intentions were revealed, he escaped into chaos. But something greater pulled him in. The world around him twisted and broke apart — and he was dragged into the Entity’s Realm. Reforged in darkness, Dain returned as The Traitor, a cruel and calculating Killer, still pretending to be what he is not.

The Jewel Altar

Scattered throughout the map, some of the Belt’s seven gems could be found and carried to an ancient stone altar, carved with slots for each gem.

Activating a gem at the altar would grant a temporary team-wide benefit — a small moment of hope in the midst of horror. But it would come with a cost. The altar would emit visual and sound cues when activated, revealing the survivor’s location. It’s an optional risk-reward mechanic, offering an edge to those brave enough to go for it without shifting the core balance of the match.

The Ancient Deltora

Dragged and shaped by the cruel will of the Entity, the lands that once were Deltora have become a twisted, suffocating landscape. The fractured ground and the obscured horizon form a scene where the real and the absurd intertwine, giving rise to a domain where hope is but a distant memory.

In the distance looms the colossal hand of the Shadow Lord, a monument of forgotten power. Yet here, in the Entity’s realm, it has lost all meaning — becoming an empty shadow, an echo of a past that finds no place in this new, dark reality. Its imposing presence no longer inspires fear, only a heavy silence that weighs over everything.

The ground pulses with a living darkness, as if the very air were too thick to breathe. Ruins and debris blend with twisted shapes, shadows, and fragments of a world that no longer exists. The winds carry inaudible whispers, echoes of lost lives swallowed by the eternal darkness of this place.

Time here is a chaotic labyrinth, where past and present collide and dissolve into an endless fog. The Ancient Deltora is a doomed realm, a place where fear is constant, light has been extinguished, and the Entity watches silently, always present, waiting for the next breath of despair.

Playable Survivors: Lief, Jasmine, and Barda

Alongside Dain, survivors like Lief, Jasmine, and Barda could be introduced either as fully playable characters or as legendary skins. Each of them has a distinct visual identity — Lief with his royal yet rugged look, Jasmine with her wilderness-born sharpness and wild hair, Barda with his imposing warrior presence. Their designs would translate beautifully into the gritty, stylized world of Dead by Daylight.

We did get Tokyo Ghoul in DBD, so this wouldn't be too farfetched.
