Is it just me or does it seem like Springtrap’s footsteps are too loud?

I’ve noticed that when playing as and against my friends and other players as springtrap that his footsteps are SURPRISINGLY loud which I find to be an odd thing considering he is a mix between a stealth killer and a chase killer which is one of the best things I could ask for out of someone with stealth.

The problem comes in however when I can’t make use of my stealth. I use three different matches I had playing springtrap as an example, imagine there is a door that is right in front of a generator, you know the survivors can see the monitor on that gen which would alert them you are teleporting so you decide to teleport somewhere in the vicinity of the generator rather than straight to it, then you hear the generator as you’re walking up to-

scratch marks are leading away from the generator, they’re already gone…

The amount of times where I have had survivors running before I could get remotely close or even have line of sight on them in an indoor map is actually crazy, you can hear his footsteps from so far away despite the fact he has built in undetectable and I feel that it’s really hurting his stealth capabilities because against survivors that are paying attention, sneaking up is literally impossible (emphasis on literally) that is how loud his footsteps are. I genuinely think Springtrap’s footsteps should be silent like any other stealth killer ONLY when he is undetectable because you cannot get proper use out of it before survivors already run before you’re remotely close.

Another problem I have with his footsteps is doors that spawn under generators (specifically applies to indoor maps with two floors) I have had moments were a door is under a generator so I teleport to it and head up the stairs to sneak up on them but you want to know something crazy? The survivor can hear your footsteps from the floor below which gives them LOADS of pre-run time, also pay attention how I said they can hear your footsteps from the floor below, not the security door itself opening.

I really hope in the future springtrap’s footsteps are silent because he can’t make use of his undetectable because of how loud his footsteps are, what I like about stealth killers is that they counter pre-running in their own way by sneaking up on survivors rather than having a dash option but springtrap unfortunately isn’t good at being stealthy because of his thunderous feet.

I also noticed that springtrap is the only killer with a built in stealth ability that actually struggles with getting value out of his stealth in comparison to every other killer with stealth in the game, if I could make any change to him it would be just making his footsteps silent when he is undetectable because his whole jumpscare aspect is gone when you can hear his footsteps from one floor below or anywhere between sixteen meters or closer.

Chucky is the only exception where you can hear him from around twelve meters or closer when he is in stealth when giggling because he has a dash ability to immediately close distance and get a hit so that makes sense but springtrap has a ranged ability and will often be blocked by obstacles when getting close and sneaking up, his only counter to shift + w is in fact stealth so because he can’t get close to actually make use of his stealth I have noticed how much that has hurt his potential in trials

Unless one of the devs is actually able to confirm that his footsteps being loud is actually just a bug this entire time… which in that case… ignore everything I just said in this post and have a good rest of your day lmfao

But on a serious note, I do want to know if you guys notice springtrap’s footsteps very well when he’s undetectable because it seems after many tests it seems impossible for him to sneak up on me or even mind game me with his undetectable in comparison to every other stealth killer in the game and if a dev is able to clarify here if his loud footsteps is a bug or not that would be very kind!

I feel their desire here is for stealth killers to not really fully sneak up on people but instead close the distance. Every stealth killer has a "tell" that they are approaching or are otherwise near you. Their stealth is enough to get them close, but rarely enough to get grabs and such. I feel the amount of danger a killer is, the louder they make their "tell". For example. Myers (discounting the tombstone) and ghostie are really low threat, so their "tell" is fairly quiet. However, Springtrap has teleport, a ranged attack, can instantly put people onto his shoulder, has an anti-mindgame aura with the axe, and so on. Considering he's a LOT more of a threat "as-is" without the stealth, they make that stealth "tell" a lot louder. Again, it's simply to close the distance vs a terror radius, but not enough to actually jumpscare or get grabs.

pretty much, especially with springtrap who has a ranged attack. you arent really meant to get a grab, you are meant to get within the range of the attack to get a chance for a hit which springtrap can do really well because of the axe trajectory.
