Error Code: 8001 & "crossplay disabling itself"
SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE: Game logins and lobbies are highly unstable at the moment. Very frequently being kicked back to the tally mark log in screen. And sometimes not being able to log in at all when receiving the error code: 8001. And crossplay is disabling itself and the option being entirely removed from my "online" options tab.
PLATFORM: Xbox Series X
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE ISSUE OCCURED: Seemingly entirely random as some of my fellow xbox player friends had it happen to them. But others not having it. The crossplay will flicker between on and off denying me the ability to play with my friends.

Xbox One Series X cross play is disabled for me as well, the option to turn it on and off isn't even in the menus

Connection error 80001 when trying to connect and when connected crossplay is disabled. The option to toggle crossplay is absent. Anyone having this issue?

Just tried a complete reinstall and it's running perfectly now.
Not a great solution but it worked.

Inconsistently, I'll play maybe a game or two then it wont allow me to even make a killer or survivor lobby. Only being able to sit on the main campfire menu. Ontop of the fact that crossplay will still flicker in and out of being on still.

I have had this problem yesterday and today. Constant connection error 8001 on Xbox Series X. If I am persistent, I can sometimes play a game but most of the time I get the connection error message. Sometimes I can't even get the game to initialize, sometimes I can't select killer/survivor, sometimes I click Play and I get the error when looking for a match. Crossplay is disabled and not by me. The option to enable it is not even being displayed in the settings,

I'm on Xbox Series S and it's affecting us too. All of the exact same issues listed above.

If im persistent i can sometimes get into one of the lobbies and then sometimes when i am able to que up for a game i receive error code 8001. It will just randomly sometimes when i get into a lobby have my crossplay disabled and I just dont have crossplay as a setting at all in my Online Tab.

Xbox series s and currently having the issue with no cross play enable and error 8001. Getting into the campfire fire menu and trying to select killer/survivor will not bring up the character.

Going on 48 hours plus with no update. No offer of any compensation for missed time. 1 million BP wouldn't come close to what Xbox players have missed out on. Still getting error 8001 and I've disconnected 3x when I was able to get into a match and now have a hefty DC timer. You should disable the DC penalty when this is a known issue.

They answered my post with "Technical Issue" and closed it. Directed me to contact support like i'm some troglodyte who doesn't know how to play an online game. I am xbox series x. Wired connection. Open NAT. I can play every other online game but DBD apparently. Frustrating.

Just wanted to report that even though I reinstalled and it started working again... After about 3 games I'm having the exact same problem.
Is really sucks because I can't take advantage of the event.

I’m having the same problem on xbox one, I tried to close the game, restarted by xbox, deleted and reinstalled the game, reset my xbox, so far nothing has fixed it

Update: Uninstalled and reinstalled it still had the problem eroor codes
But i joined a friend invite and it worked so i dont think you can host to play online but join to play online

Like I said it worked for like 3 games and when I came back to play the next day it gave me the same issues. There is clearly something server side with the devs that is causing this.

Also having these exact same issues and im on xbox series S. Dbd was working fine until a couple of days ago I couldn't que up with friends because it kept saying error code 8001 and then It wouldn't let my load into either survivor or killer and now I can't even load into the lobby because as soon as I load into the game im hit with error code 8001.

Been having issues since the 7th. However its been getting progressivley worse as the days been passing by. Hopefully this gets fixed soon cause its annoying asf

Just had this issue with the error code 8001. Couldn't launch the game at all. Had to restart the game for couple of times before it began to work again. XBox Series X

Been having the issue on xbox series x ever since the new PTB stuff. Never had problems accept during initial launch of chapters (high traffic launches). I can get past the 8001 by constantly retrying. Like everyone else, crossplay is disabled. Didn't even know the option to turn it on was removed. Launching Survivor or Killer would fail, just click and watch spin then nothing. Spamming that I eventually was able to get in lobby to que. Searching for game took longer. Eventually just played first game, no issues. I figure I'll get kicked off eventually with 8001 or something. I don't know, hope any of this helps.

In fairness to them I believe their policy is to have one main thread and to close other duplicative ones. So the fact that this one is acknowledged and being worked on is why they closed your separate one (if I understood you correctly). Sorry this keeps happening, I’m on Xbox too.
