Gens getting done faster?
It seems that ever since this most recent patch gens just get done way faster than before. I'm not sure if it's because all the survivors spawn at one side of the map clustered together or what but it seems like if i chase a survivor for more than fifteen seconds three gens pop at once. Not sure what else to do as Killer but pick high tier killers to even get a match to last longer than one minute.

That hasn't been my experience, but it'd make sense. We're also playing during an event as well. Survivors tend to crank gens out faster during them for whatever reason.
8 -
Usually it is because of Bloodpoints, as it is fairly easy to max out the Objective category and event generators usually award you extra Bps.
10 -
Very true. Not a lot of interactive stuff with points this time around aside from the cards.
5 -
Indeed.
But I'm enjoying the event.

I haven't noticed a difference. Really just depends on the caliber of your teammates.
If teammates are smart, they'll split up and hit gens with a priority. While also not being completely awful in chase. But usually, 1 of these 2 takes a hit. If you notice gens getting done faster, it might be because you aren't really paying attention to gens/defending them. If you are so focused on a chase and getting a down on someone, that could usually be the reason why.
Its very easy to tunnel vision a survivor out of spite w/o realizing how much time has actually gone by. You can't allow people to just sit on gens and rotate.

If its the event, which I avoid on survivor for the most part, gens were slower in my matches because of the totems and the chest. Its like 3500 points for each of those bad boys.
But maybe thats just MY matches because I am the one making gens go slower… I do/did have people walk around to get them though so no… event especially when the totem thing comes up is generally slower gens. People scramble for them things.
And people want to be there for every completed gen since you only get the event BP award by actually being on the generator when it completes.6 -
It's alright. Not the worst I've ever played. I didn't even give Lights Out a chance first time around lmao

I havent noticed a difference. Maybe try Corrupt Intervention for a bit if you're struggling with early game? It synergises well with the spawning update

The problem currently is that a lot of killers are hard tunneling and or proxy camping ghoul & spring trap both being good at it & the newest killers don't help.
So survivors are then conditioned to focus on gens more than ever from the get go otherwise it could be 3 vs 1 at 4 gens.
This then conditions killers to want to get someone out fast because otherwise they'll be "gen rushed"
While I'm not especially hopeful at this point the planned anti tunnel / camp if remotely successful some adjustments can me made on the survivor side too.
Add in to all that its an event where things get amplified & players on both sides want to finish the game asap

All survivor spawning together should make the gens go slower. Except you somehow chase in your spawn area and the survivor can repair three gens in their spawn area.
Its probably just survivor prioritzing gens. Maybe bc the event, maybe bc they cant go next that easily or some other reason.
In a "normal" match survivor waste a lot of time. Just look at the hud as survivor, sometimes only one survivor sits on a gen after one minute. So if survivor just do gens the match is a lot faster.
Its not unwinnable, but chasing a survivor too long, checking the wrong area etc gets punished hard.

- My experience: The fact that survivors are aware that they'll spawn together at the start of the game automatically leads them 80% of the time to want to split up as quickly as possible. Previously, when they spawned randomly, survivors tended to work on the first generator they found on the map (and therefore group up). Paradoxically, the latest update has made survivors think more carefully about which generator to work on. Basically now the survivors have started to think like competitive DBD players do (only from this point of view)

In my experience gens get done pretty slowly most survivors don't do them with any effiency for some reason. Most my games on killer about 1-2 gens get done before I kill first usually 6-8 hooks before that.
If all survivors gen rush then they can be done quite fast but still requires killer to miss play and usually you can even snowball if 3 gens get done quickly.
-1 -
I can attest to that for a bit of personal anecdotal evidence. Since I know the killer is supposed to spawn opposite us on the map I rarely go for the closest gen anymore since I know they’ll likely be heading straight for it.
Usually anymore I try and slip by the killer and start a gen around where I imagine they spawned or start a central gen depending on what I think I can get away with.

I notice at the start of the match that Killers will begin Chase with the first person they see…likely not on a Generator. So they are already losing 2 Generators still.

Yes, let's say it's changed from the survivor's perspective. Before, you could "play relaxed." All old players remember Meg wandering around the maps to purify dull totems... now you're either 100% effective on generators or you're simply dead.🤣
7 -
what's your build ? the meta is minimum 2 gen slowdown, I always run corrupt + deadlock
-2 -
Yeah people tend to vastly overestimate how long they run a killer for and vastly underestimate how long a survivor runs them for. A 40 second chase will happen, the killer will say it was 20 and the survivor will say it was nearly enough time for 3 gens to pop
7 -
that event would have been fine if they just had the courage to tell doc and Legion players that they are glorified Trapless Trappers; capitulating to them single handedly ruined the spirit of the whole mode
1 -
a killer messaged my friend saying they couldn’t run them for 30 seconds but they recorded the chase and it was over 1:25. Spent 30 minutes sending them psn messages after he humped her for 40 seconds. Very funny interaction.
1 -
I mean, if they've only chased a survivor for 15 seconds and 3 gens have popped then what was the killer doing for at least 75 seconds? Likely longer since the survivors are now guaranteed to have to travel to be on 3 different gens.
Step 1 here should be to examine their own gameplay. And if necessary, they can run lethal. The very beginning of the match is when survivors are strongest, so if someone is wandering aimlessly, or generally just leaving the survivors alone while they examine the scenery or something, then maybe people should work on their own inefficiency in the most critical part of the match.
No one really knows what happened in the first 75 seconds of this match, but it clearly wasn't pressure. They admitted as much.

Perfect storm of the event, the rank reset, the new spawn changes, and the anti go-next mechanic.
Frankly we need to stop making the objectives give extra points and just slap on an event multiplier to the end result. Otherwise, it always leads to sweating harder.

For me, it was the obvious. The stream they did was DBD under ideal conditions—a custom game between 5 friends. That is not how the game operates under any other circumstance. I knew that the mode was just begging Killers to rely heavily on camping/tunneling/slugging, much more than usual, once things got difficult. And that's exactly what happened. I knew it'd be a bad time.

Honestly, my friend, I think the first Lights Out was the best modifier so far.
This is a very unpopular opinion, I know, but I enjoyed a return to hide and seek and the occasional jumpscares.
The second Lights Out I really disliked, because the candelabras basically defeated the whole point of the modifier, imho.

It's not a bad concept, just not really great for where the game is at right now. That's the issue with anything fun that can be added to the game though. It will always have to contend with the core issues of the game, no matter what it is. And that allows it to be negated entirely.

Interestingly enough, friend, the first Lights Out was available for only a week in February of 2024, and there wasn't anything particularly problematic back then, at least not that I can recall.
The only issue was how easy it was to tunnel someone in Lights Out because of no anti-tunnel perks, that was indeed a problem.

The pace of the game makes the survivor role currently boring for someone experienced. Good loopers are playing more killer because currently no killer gives you chase as soon as they find out you are any good. That leaves rushers playing mostly survivor, regardless their skill level, creating long queues for the killer and boring matches.
-1 -
Yeah. At this point, I'd almost be perfectly content getting rid of gens and hooks entirely in favor of something else lol
Very good point. Although Killers that want a challenge have been saying for years that the role is too boring for them now too.
1 -
I wouldn't, tbh.
There are some things in DBD I believe should never change.
-2 -
I'd like to see the game become more dynamic with less predictability. But I think something that would be equally worth investing in given how much the game has changed is something like a DBD Classic mode, which I know you'd also enjoy.
1 -
Depends on when, I'd say.
While I would really like a classic mode, depending on which version you choose for it there is a lot of content that would be unavailable. Maybe it should be like Overwatch Classic, revisiting some of the most famous periods in the game's history.

That's a good point too. Granted they're both pipe dreams that will likely never happen, but that's always been half of the fun of DBD—thinking of ways to make it better lmao

It might be that gens get done, faster sooner, not faster over all. Like they start taking out gens quickly, but only at the start. I haven't had a lot of experience with gens getting done faster myself, but I have noticed more consistently one gen might pop off without me even getting into chase because I'll choose to search one half of the map, then try to make my way back to the other, and then it pops.

From my recent games today, I've faced a couple of highly coordinated teams. From what I have gathered, it appears 2-3 of them are focused on gens, whilst the others actively search for the killer. They're the distraction and often good at it.
With the right combination of perks and tools early gens can fly, but also it's surprising how much time can be wasted on a chase with a good runner. Time flies. They were fun fights though, and the last group were nice in chat.

I liked both Lights Out versions as both sides, I love that hide and seek aspect and want to see Lights Out a ton more than another Chaos Shuffle because the Devs don't know what else to do.
Bring Lights Out back, at the caveat that my beloved Dredge shouldn't be in it. It alters the environment too much the same way Freddy does. Why's Dredge allowed but not Freddy? Makes no sense.

Frankly if this starts to be a massive issue and overused, it's going to sooner or later lead to nerfing those perks and that really isn't fun for Survivor. But if the perks are causing rounds to go too fast, it's what they'll need to do unfortunately. There's not much else the Devs can change.
1 -
Hey, I wasn't a Meg. People appreciated my totem cleansing when they didn't get hit with Noed.
Yeah, Hens is a comp player and an amazing survivor. He's really not an accurate sample.
3 -
Why's Dredge allowed but not Freddy? Makes no sense.
If I remember correctly, my dear friend, Freddy was excluded from the first Lights Out because the Dream World effect would clash with the modifier's darkness.
I do recall that I thought this would be fixed for the second Lights Out.
3 -
But Dredge's also clashes, so it doesn't make sense to have double darkness. It actually makes the darkness worse.
1 -
Every event is like this. Survivors sweat harder than ever to get Gens done, Killers sweat harder than ever to kill everyone off as quick as possible.
3 -
Not in my games. Gosh darn teammates refuse to touch the darn things even when I've somehow unlocked the ability to loop (or I'm against a baby Killer - which doesn't happen often, but it does happen). But that's just my games.
4 -
I understand that. I'm just saying your average player isn't hitting greats with the consistency of Hens.
1 -
Yep, but I think Dredge didn't cause any technical issues because at least he was making everything even darker, which is the point of the modifier.
Freddy's Dream World, however, is really bright.
2 -
Lmao I feel this one; the one in 20 games where you’re like ‘im doing it dad I’m looping!’ and running the killer like you’re making a TikTok video, not a single person on a gen 😭
3 -
You realize not everyone is on PC right? We don't all get to play at 120fps.
4 -
Generators need to be done faster, it's the only priority for survivors. When the killer is able to get 2 people out of the game, it's a win for the killer now as slugging for the 4k is the norm. You can't win with 2 survivors left, only thing to do is focus gens as fast as you can.
2 -
Survivors have enough things to speed up generators if they try, and "just use more gen control" on Killer shouldn't be the answer. They certainly don't need to go faster; if anything they need to be brought to heel and made even by making all generator speed, slower or faster, cap at a certain percent faster. + or - 25% seems fair.
-2 -
I am not advocating for faster generators I am saying survivors already have to do generators fast or else face the consequence, as killer mains have it really easy right now with just getting 2 survivors out, then slug for the 4k. It's almost braindead easy, especially against an altruism group. Killers are basically handed easy wins most of the time.
If generators go any slower, it would kill the game for survivors as we've seen in the past.
-2 -
I say this very respectfully: that greatly depends on the Killer you choose, friend. It also depends on how hard you choose to play. It has nothing to do with "Killer Mains having it easy", if anything some have it even harder right now due to healing being stronger.
I highly suggest thinking about how your words might sound before posting, Us versus Them isn't tolerated here. Not saying you're doing it, just saying - be more aware of how something may sound, because your post here seems to suggest that Killer is the "easy role" when that isn't always the case.
1 -
I think for me about a year or 2 now almost every game ever gen is complete the only time they don't is if people throw or the killers a cheater.
1 -
That would be ideal but BHVR can't seem to do that. They can't even make an event not Survivor sided, see Blood Moon this year. Events gotta be sided.
