Pig Feedback (Right Direction, but not Enough)

These Pig changes are definitely in the right direction, but it feels like the perfect set of values for the Ambush occurs when you're running Workshop Grease and Last Will, so I think they should be made entirely base-kit and reworked instead of buffing and compensation nerfing. These would be the values:

  • Ambush Attack Charge Time: 0.55s (was 0.75)
  • Ambush Dash Speed: 7.455 m/s (was 7.1 m/s)

I do not think this would be too oppressive, because while moderately useful, the only time it truly feels strong is when you have some haste modifier like batteries included..

I also think pig needs some add-on reworks to give more spotlight to the Ambush Dash in general, but ideas specifically for the Last Will and Workshop Grease add-ons could just be minor stat changes such as:

  • Longer Ambush Duration (5-10%)
  • Shorter Miss Cooldown (5-10%)
  • Keep Faster Charge Speed (10%, which is 0.55s→0.5s)

I play a lot of Pig and while it is true the dash add-ons feel needed to get the best value with her dash. I do like how the add-ons basically set you up to play either trap head-pop/slowdown Pig, or dash Pig.

It is like picking your flavor of Pig, pick one and be strong in it while falling back on the other. Probably more balanced than Pig being really strong at both. I don't think she would be busted like that, however I would hate for BHVR to nerf either her dash or traps to compensate for it.

In short, I am satisfied with how she is atm. Probably best to let the new buffs stay as they are for now and gather data on the numbers to see if she needs more later.

Its still early days, but she looks like she's in a good spot right now.

These 2 add-ons are excellent options and really help her in chase, but making them basekit would be a bit overboard I think. If she got WG and LW basekit, she would be free to throw in things like Crate of Gears and Tampered Timer, or Video Tape and Ruleset Number 2, while still retaining a pretty damned respectable chase, which would start to be overwhelming. Even high skilled players who don't properly respect her head traps can get caught out by them if the Pig recognises the head trap pattern and squeezes the team at the right time.

Pig is fundamentally not just a chase killer, she is a macro control killer, and can take numerous perks and add-ons to make her party hats quite difficult to manage. As such there naturally needs to be a trade off between the strength of her ambush and the strength of her RBTs.

What would you do with these add-ons if they became basekit? In its simplest form, you can't make Pig dash as good as Chucky slice and dice, and then have a ~360s death threat slowdown on top.

As someone who have played enough Pig, yeah. Those buffs are more of placebo as they result in 0.44m larger are cover, which won't give you hits that you haven't got earlier. The buffs are probably to prevent just Pig being stealth into dash playstyle, that would be probably pretty boring.

Just make it so The Pig can see the aura of the Jigsaw Box like before. That alone would make her strong again. That’s what The Pig really deserves not some dumb Ambush Attack “improvement.”

The devs say they want The Pig to be a stealthy, ambush-type character. I really wonder if the devs have ever actually played their own game. Survivors can simply drop a pallet to completely counter Ambush Attack. The only players who can’t deal with Ambush Attack are beginners. In High MMR, Ambush Attack is completely useless.

But if they insist on continuing to tweak Ambush Attack, I have a suggestion:

    • While charging Ambush Attack, The Pig shouldn’t stop moving. She should still be able to move, just slower like The Wraith when uncloaking, whose movement speed drops to 1.6 m/s. I think The Pig should work the same way, instead of stopping completely while charging.

While scream builds with Gears or TT add-ons are a thing, its an unavoidable compromise I feel. I believe a lot of Pig's inflated pub kill rate comes from nasty head pop strats that soloQ just can't deal with.

Though I'm also not against the box auras returnung as a Pig main myself, because all losing them does is .ake it more annoying for high level play to learn all the box spawns, and unnecessarily obtuse for low level play.
