How do i stop getting so stressed at the killer role?
For quite a while now, i sometimes tend to get angry or stressed whenever i play killer and i end up having a bad match against survivors who brag about winning in endgame chat and i constantly feel like that i haven't learned anything about the killers i play even after 600+ hours, the toxicity survivors have makes me really look down upon myself as a killer player and i sometimes just disconnect in matches where i feel like I'm getting steamrolled and i constantly worry about generators, getting gen-rushed, going against survivors who are better than me, or going against a bully squad, how do i stop getting so stressed at this game?

I feel like you might need to tell yourself not to take it so seriously and take a break if you find yourself getting too worked up.
I am also guilty of this but on either role

Difficult.
My opinion, trying to be real.
You get stressed. The game is still just the game. If you play the game for longer, you know what this game is and what can happen.
If you decide not to get stressed, you don´t have to get stressed. The game don´t hurt you in reality.
Try to take it less serious - just play and see what happens. ( I know this is way more difficult than it sounds)
Are the players good? - maybe you learn new tricks - what do they do good, what do they do bad? Which trick got you?
I think the key is to not focus too much on winning. If you want to win super hard and then get better players this is the most triggering.
If you see you can´t really win, accept it. Try to learn or do some stupid stuff. Some bully squads are really nice in the end if you start doing funny stuff. Like slow turns and look at them and nod, or if on controller the slow killer walk - almost always funny.
Difficult to give real good advice here as everybody is different.
If i get annoyed sometimes i just remember that it goes away almost instantly when back to the Lobby. Also sometimes i just stop for the day.

Try to see the killer role in a different perspective. You can be like me who plays as the host and the monster in a movie. Between delaying their progress to destroying walls and pallets. Even if I get a 0k I get tons of BP, and the survivors usually have a good time with it too. If anything watch the Scary movie franchise and try to mimic it. Its fun.

I switch back and forth between the two roles constantly, usually like 3 or 4 games of each, to keep myself from getting frustrated. Killer is definitely the more aggravating role. Even when I'm getting 4ks I still feel stressed cause you have to be on 10 the whole game.
I've said this a lot, but when you did bad and the match is doomed, a good way to change the tone is to open the exit gates and be friendly. Nod your head. Spin in circles. Look up at the sky. Walk in slo-mo. Taking an L with grace can win a lot of people over and make you feel better too because it is just a game after all.

4 words of advice, my brother in the fog, from least to most important:
- It's not a competition
- It's not worth being stressed
- Enjoy the chase
- Let go.
Iron: It's not a competition, it's sparring. Like fencing or playing basketball, you can go against folks that keep score and make it a point to put you down to build themselves up, but they don't get it. If you like fencing or playing basketball, the fun part is engaging with the game, not proving yourself against foes. You can lose a basketball game, but enjoy the challenge. You can hold your own and eventually lose to a competent or even superior sparring partner in a fencing duel, but it's worth it if you like fencing.
Bronze: If you're getting stressed, remember that it isn't worth your time. Your mental health and joy are FAR FAR more important than any silly game. If you find yourself getting wound up or put down by a videogame, it's flat not worth it my friend. Trust me. Take a little break and maybe try again another time, but if it keeps happening then stay away. If the lotion starts to burn, it's not for you. Thats okay.
Silver: Enjoy the suck. I mean it. They have that military term "Embrace the suck", but you will find a lot more pleasure in your killer journey if the road is what feeds you happiness than the destination. If you go into matches looking for a 4k or to inflict misery on survivors that cower in your presence, you're setting yourself up for eventual failure. If you boot up the game because you enjoy the chases, like pulling off silly hits, play around with meme builds, and have funny interactions with strangers - you will have a LOT more fun and start to find those 4ks and dominating matches come around more frequently. You have to train your brain not to break away from a fun chase so that you can win the game with camping and objective control - and switch it to a version that is happy to have 8 pallets dropped on you, flashlight stuns, and being chased for 5 gens if it means you got to pull out all the mind games and spar with a worthy survivor that put you down. Enjoy the chase. Enjoy the hunt. You will turn 600 hours into 2,600 hours happily if you do
Gold: Let go. Surrender the illusion of control. Remember that you are NOT responsible for the match and the survivors are NOT testing your sovereignty. Release that part deep inside of you that is tempted to think that you are the authority in the interaction. Remember that the other players are your brothers and sisters, and this is a designed language of code being run by a machine. We get most frustrated when we feel responsible for a loss, when we feel that our will is being tested, that our abilities are being circumvented. Let it go. Let it all go. You can only do your best, and doing your best is its own reward. Those people that talk bad about you are enjoying their time in the sun, but their hour will come - and they will envy the peace you feel now. Let go. You are not in control, you are all guests. This match isn't yours to win or lose, it is a gift and a blessing.
These are the steps I took to being relaxed in my games. Hope it helps you too!0 -
Give yourself challenges that doesn’t focus on direct win. Play your main only, or in opposite try new killer u find interesting. Focus on mechanics. U can play at early day if really want to avoid potentially strong sfw, but I don’t advise dodging cause it’s just putting yourself in comfort zone and restrict your skill
Finally, take a rest from the role. It’s absolutely fine to play survivors when u are too tired.0 -
The game is stressful for everybody, but that kind of performance anxiety is ultimately coming from you. It's embarrassing to feel like you're dragging behind, but everybody experiences it. It takes most people twice the time you've been playing to even feel comfortable in either role because it's just that kind of game. And we start from square one every time something new is released.
Don't beat yourself up over it. Leave all that frustration behind in the trial and don't carry it around like extra baggage.
