Switching survivor on console

When I go into a game I have to carefully set my controller down during lobby waits otherwise my survivor switches to another one because the trigger was pushed.
I'm not the only one having issues with this and many times the game will start before I can switch my character back and I'm suddenly a character I dont play with 1 perk.
Please fix this back to the older way of selecting a survivor.
