New generator setup and gamemode
Okay so before I begin this concept is one I been thinking on for quite some time and definitely open to other ideas to improve upon it.
There hasn't been anything to significantly change up gameplay in some time outside of events, the basis of the game with survivors repairing gens and doing skill checks till its at 100% with a few ways to boost the repair speed so I have thought of an overhaul to generators as a whole that will make survivor play a bit more challenging and enjoyable, and be a small counter to gen rushing groups. The gens (depending on location) have either 1 or up to 4 spots around them for survivors to repair, with the long ends having fuse boxes or whatever with electrical wiring, and the sides being open to the innards with the mechanical and other electrical devices.
Survivors can come up to any gen and basically just "hotwire" or fiddle around with the mechanical parts depending on which side they are on and then after a bit generator is up and running within a couple minutes. So all this is gonna change to add a bit of "realism" and teamwork to generator repair.
In summary this new system will now require survivors to repair generators by interacting with the different sides of them to repair the various parts and mechanisms, a single survivor can still repair a gen but it will require a bit more time and work.
Example: You approach a gen alone and given an indicator of which side to start on and as you start repairing it eventually after some progress it will stop and you will get another on-screen indicator to switch to a different spot on the gen ie: Started on the light pole/front side wiring and then be told to move to the left side to work on the fuel lines and pistons to continue progress, then be told to move to another of the 4 spots. On average a survivor will have to move spots 3 times but could be up to 5, and the order and amount can change depending on how many times the gen is damaged by killer or skill check fail. It's basically by default each side counts for 25% of the gen repair progress.
A main change that may sound alarming is multiple survivors on a gen will no longer stack the way it currenty does, instead 2 or more survivors working on a gen will add moderate repair progress boost and if they are on the next spot indicated that will give a temporary boost to repair speed and a bit of extra progress, this wont apply for solo survivors having to stop and move. Killers will also be changed up with this system as depending on which side of a gen they kick can have different impacts on how much it is immediately regressed, kicking a "fully repaired" part of the gen will regress it by more percent than a partially repaired part, killers will have to guess that however. Perks like Eruption for example will damage all sides and require repairing them again so that will make it a more higher tier perk.
Before some of you start asking about gens in tight spaces on some maps that only have 2 spots and sometimes even 1 like Underground Complex and Haddonfield, some of them will have to be moved or spun around some to allow for easier interacting and have at least a second spot open to repair (which they should anyway). Toolboxes will also be effected by this change with some add-ons still being able to allow for quicker repairs, some will allow for faster repairing on the wires, while others being faster on the mechanical portions, Brand New Part being able to almost instantly fully repair one side of the gen.
Next up is a different gamemode that could be either a new event or new gamemode all together.
"Parts Search" is the name I currently have and basically the way it works is similar to like how blood generators worked in the last Halloween event. Will have to repair 6 gens and there will still be some regular gens on the map but there will also be new more complex ones that will require survivors finding parts scattered about the map such as in tall grass, in chests, inside lockers etc, in order to repair them.
There will be 5 types of parts to be found: wire, cogs, fuses, fuel and sparkplugs.
These new gens will require 3-5 parts and each required part found and added will progress it, a killer kicking the gen will "break" the last part added to it making survivors have to find another. Parts will regularly spawn around the map but as gens are fully repaired their spawn rate lowers. Toolboxes will come in extra handy for this mode as the Brand New Part add-on will be able to fill in a missing part and cannot be broken by the killer.

With current insanely survivor-sided version of game I'd rather see them introducing parts that need to be installed before generator can be repaired rather than increasing repair time to 150s. Or they can give killer map wide 50 % regression to every gen every time survivor is hooked. There are possibilities.
