Why was the Bloodpoint bonus limited to 3x in 2v8 mode?

Currently, in the 2v8 mode, killer queue times are reaching around 20–30 minutes. During that period, players are forced to play as survivors instead.

Historically, the Bloodpoint bonus has scaled in proportion to queue times, but it seems the developers have now limited it to a maximum of 3x. What’s more, the regular mode currently offers a 2.5x Bloodpoint bonus.

In the previous phase, the 2v8 mode bonus went up to 5x, which made it much more enjoyable. However, in the current situation—where perks are restricted and gameplay variety is limited—even though this mode is meant to be a kind of event, a 3x bonus feels rather unappealing.

I’m curious to know what the developers were thinking behind this decision.

What evidence do you have that BHVR have put a limit on the BP multiplier? The most obvious conclusion is that they haven't and there are just more Survivors queuing than usual, so less need for a bonus. But I don't really understand how the bonus is applied, so maybe you know something I don't.

On the other hand, it does seem to me that removing Legion has barely moved the needle on Killer queue times. They look to be the same as they've always been. If Legion's inclusion had made the mode as unpopular with Survivors as reddit/twitter/the forums all claimed, surely we'd see a bigger positive impact on the Killer queue times as more Survivor would now be willing to play it?

I don't remember them specifically saying they were going to cap the multiplier at a certain number but they did say they were trying to find a middle ground for bloodpoint incentives because, presumably, they didn't want it to be too high. I wouldn't be surprised if they were still testing it out. x4 one time, x5 another, x3 this time.

Where's the community manager to clear this up?

First and foremost, the killer queue times are still excessively long, much like the previous 2v8 iteration that offered a 5x Bloodpoint bonus. Furthermore, while the Bloodpoint multiplier has been observed to drop as low as 2.5x, it never seems to increase beyond 3x.

Based on the tweet above, it appears that the developers sometimes manually adjust the incentives in response to an imbalance in the killer-to-survivor ratio. This could suggest that the incentives are not determined solely by the ratio of survivors to killers.

i love how this topic keeps coning up and nothing changes. The devs must absolutely know the killer queues are excessively long but in their infinite wisdom lower the multiplier. faceplam

My guess is that the devs realized that no BP bonus no matter how large would help balance the queues. So I suspect they just buffed survivor side more and lowered the max BP bonus. This has felt like the easiest version of 2v8 on the survivor side for me. I’ve escaped most of my matches on the survivor side, and the few killer matches I played were extremely tough as gens were flying left and right.

I believe they know it matters.

For me it's big difference, because regular mode most of the time has 2.5x mulitplier and 2v8 has 3x - it's just 50% more BP.

You can bring escape cake and you are getting more BP.

I like the fact that I can play survivor in between. I think that should be something I have access to in normal mode. One match killer one or two as survivor is actually very fun.

Actually, I think I can remember they did an experiment on this a couple of 2V8s back but I'm not able to find where they posted the results (maybe someone else on the forum can find them). It was during the infamous bot iteration, I think.

Anyway, the basic take away (if I remember correctly) was that bots and incentives only made a few minutes difference to the queue times. Not even 3x XP made much difference. Double or triple XP is pretty much the only thing that would get me to play 2V8 because I got quite a few cosmetic pieces out of that experiment!

Anyway, you are right. Incentives don't do much to move the needle so playing Survivor while you wait is likely the only solution we're going to get. I think BHVR considers the problem solved.

Not to mention that now that there is the option to play survivor matches while you wait more people will chose to queue to the killer queue as they can finally get to play after two survivor matches and not just wait the 30 minutes doing something else. I for example rarely did killer matches in 2v8 as I saw it waste of my time sitting there watching youtube or something while waiting to get to the lobby. Now I queue in the killer match and play the two survivor matches I can do in that about 30 minutes that I would need to wait for the killer match. So taking that into account there is now also more killer queuers as there is now something to do while you wait for the match as people who originally did not bother with killer side might now play it as its feasible to do so.
