DS Could Be Better-- Here's How.
This has been mentioned in the past as a potential change or rework, but why not have DS disable a killer's power temporarily after the stun? In the current game, there is a large disparity between killer powers in terms of strength. A stronger killer (nurse, blight, krasue, ghoul) faces fewer obstacles to tunnel than a weaker killer, such as trapper or pig. This change would level out this disparity and make it more difficult to tunnel. As it stands, a DS means little to nothing to a nurse or blight who can easily catch up seconds after the stun. This change would make it more difficult to tunnel on these stronger killers, and yet, it would have almost no meaningful effect on a weaker killer like Freddy. Numbers can be decided; it should not be a long duration, but enough to have a relevant impact.

The devs already said they don't think that is a good change (in their perspective) since it would be too hard to balance, specially that this should be considered for every new killer they release.

- I don't think it's a huge problem to give 10-second cooldowns to any killer, old or new. Ironically, the one most affected by this change would be Nurse.

sounds OP at first but if they just make it only 3-5 seconds i think it would be huge without destroying the mid tier killers. +1 from me i agree with your idea

ds is already meta and strong why buff it

Just let DS activate on both hook states. It will only hurt someone the second time if they really try to tunnel you.
Like a hot oven. Touch it once you burn yourself and you will think twice before touching it again.
And to be fair… just disable the Skillcheck of DS.
It always felt strange that you bring a perk to protect yourself from tunneling. Then you get tunneld and the game ask you "Do you really deserve this?" It mostly hurts the newer Survivors, which needs the perk the most.

Could just high mobility so when stunned their power goes on CD rather than everyone.
Also DS should work on both hook states then tunneling would be really hard.1 -
they just need to bring that one bug back where the stun duration was different depending on what killer it was used on.

Against high-tier killers with mobility like Nurse or Bright, I think it's necessary. However, when you activate that type of DS against killers like the 4.4m/s ones or M1 killers, depending on the duration, the match is pretty much decided.

Great question! Really, this idea came to me after watching the developers backtrack multiple times on the base game changes surrounding anti-tunnel measures. They seem to struggle with making broad changes, so starting smaller with anti-tunnel perks seems more effective to me in the short term regarding the issue of tunneling, even if the perk is currently meta. Looking for healthier alternatives or changes in the game is important, and that is the main goal. I also believe there are more options to evaluate for tunneling, but for this discussion, just keeping the focus on DS for now.
Thanks for responding!-1 -
I do agree that DS's skill check disproportionately affects weaker or newer survivor players, which is not good game design. I would support removing the skillcheck. DS working twice, I have no problem with. If a killer player is that determined to tunnel someone to target them again after enduring DS once, a second stun may buy more time for the strategy to be weaker, and ultimately, pushing that killer player to possibly consider other non-tunneling playstyles.

You mean that 2 seconds stun for hag when ds was in its strongest state.

If they buff antitunnel perks then you cant expext some basekit antitunnel changes like those in past two ptbs and another thing is ds is meta perk that is in top 10 most used survivor perks from all those perks like over 150 perks are in the game and one of their goal is to push other perks so meta isnt stale. Last thing is ds is paid perk from dlc and chance to get it from shrine isnt high if ds was made stronger I doubt they would put it in shrine more often or made it free thats not economical for them.

I support removing the skill check and making it a 2 use perk. A killer would have too be foolish to get hit with it twice. Its already disabled in endgame so its not that unreasonable.

Could also just make the killer's power go on a full cooldown if the killer's power uses a CD system. Blight, Nurse, Ghoul, Spirit, Doctor, Vecna, Knight. Any others in missing or there a killer that might still be too problematic that doesn't use a CD?

DS, a perk that you MUST spend money to get access to, is not and should not be the solution to tunneling. It should not be bandaid fixed via a perk change that not everyone has access to. Tunneling should be fixed at a base level to be impossible (or useless) through mechanics changes.

i agree but ds should be changed anyway

Sure, changed to do something else entirely in the same patch they make tunneling a non-issue. But no DS should not be changed in its current state.
