Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Add Abandon Option for Killers when Exit Gates are Powered or Opened

I wish there was an Abandon Option for Killers when the gates are powered or opened, and if the Killer does so, the Survivors will be counted as them having escaped. There are a lot of games where if the gates are powered and you don't have anyone on hook to camp or an endgame scenario that leads to a Kill, or if the Killer is giving up, an abandon option for them when the gates are already opened or powered would allow them to concede a match they already were losing if they wish not to keep playing and go on to the next one. Survivors can already abandon when they're all slugged, so why can't Killers abandon at the end of the game too if they are already losing and wish not to keep playing that match?

This isn't a thing because you can simply force them out of the trial. you even get more points and potentially someone fumbles and gives you a kill/hook for free. As for if you have someone hooked and you get this abandon situation prompt, you're getting a free kill which survivors may have been attempting to save, which is not fair for them. The difference between the slugging situation and this one is survivors have lost when they're all on the ground (unless they have anti slug perks) whereas with the hooked i end game situation they still have a chance to save. Robbing them of that oppurtunity to grant a free kill isn't fair.

Even if the Survivor on the hook is counted as escaping as well if the Killer abandons too?

Well, wouldn't you want to try and secure your kill? I guess if you wanted to leave so badly that would be fine

No, it actually makes sense. You have the agency to finish the trial yourself AND get rewarded more for it.

If people are teabagging at exit gates refusing to leave and waiting until either the EGC runs out or until the Killer feels like going to exit gates to chase them out, I want the agency to end the game myself and move on. I'm not going to keep playing the game when the gates are open or powered and the game is a complete loss and the Survivors are standing there BMing, just let me move on to the next game.

Survivors can already abandon if everyone is slugged or just before the Killer can mori them on the ground, so why shouldn't Killers be allowed to abandon when they've already lost the game and don't have a chance of coming back?

Even disregarding the various gameplay arguments (good or nonsensical), Killers cannot abandon when the exits are powered/opened for a simple reason: the game instantly ends when a Killer DCs/Abandons.

Some achievements, and any quests demanding escaping through the gates, would become nigh-impossible since gate escapes would become a lot more rare.

Think about it, before bots were a thing and the recent Myers rework allowed him to Mori Survivors on the ground if on 2nd hook, Survivors would go in lockers and stay there forever out of spite to deny the "Evil Incarnate" achievement (since they could still get pulled from the locker and sacrificed, but it would void the achievement).

Now imagine trying to go for "Outbreak Breakout" or "Hand-Eye Coordination", or hell, any map-specific achievement, if the Killer could instantly decide to end the game the moment the gates are powered/opened? Achievements that are already obnoxious and utterly dependant on chance to even try to get would become borderline impossible.

However, if BHVR implements functional Killer bots that would not void any achievements, then that aspect would be covered.

But unless the game doesn't end when a Killer DCs or Abandons, there's no way that opening/powering the gates can enable a Killer to just dip. Even if the achievements didn't exist, gates escapes would become rare and nearly every games where the Killer lost (and/or doesn't have an endgame build) would end the moment the gates are powered/open and barely any matches would actually be played to the end.
