New game mechanic
Bringing this to Dead by Daylight (DBD) is a game-changer because it finally addresses the massive "Solo Queue vs. SWF (Survive With Friends)" gap.
Right now, friends on Discord have a "telepathic" advantage that solo players don't. Your radio system would level the playing field while making the game feel like a true 70s slasher flick.
Here is how we integrate your Radio & Interference idea specifically into the DBD ecosystem:
🛠️ The Item: The Entity’s Transceiver
Every survivor spawns with a limited-battery radio (taking up a new "Comms" slot so you don't lose your Med-kit/Flashlight).
* The "Push-to-Talk" Cost: Using the radio consumes battery. If you gossip all match, you’ll be silent by the end-game.
* The Audio Profile: Voices sound like they’re coming through a 1970s walkie-talkie—crackly, distorted, and echoing.
* Distance Logic: * Near (0-20m): Standard proximity chat (no radio needed).
* Far (20m-50m): Radio static begins. The voice breaks up.
* Extreme (50m+): Only loud noises (screams/explosions) trigger a "blip" on the radio.
New Killer Perk: Dead Air
> Whenever a Survivor uses their radio within 32 meters of you, their frequency bleeds into your ears.
> * You hear a low hum of static that grows louder as you get closer to them.
> * If they speak for more than 3 seconds continuously, their Aura is revealed for 2 seconds.

The "Locker" Effect
If a survivor is hiding in a locker and their teammate screams into the radio, the radio speaker actually emits sound in the locker. The Killer can hear that muffled "Where are you?!" from the outside. Panic ensues.
📉 Why it Solves the "Solo Queue" Problem
| Feature | How it Helps Solo Players | How it Buffs the Killer |
|---|---|---|
| Information | You can finally tell your team "The Killer is camping" without needing a perk. | The Killer can hear you talking and use it to find you. |
| Coordination | "I'm going for the save, stay on gens." | If you're coordinating, you aren't being stealthy. Static gives you away. |
| Atmosphere | Hearing a teammate’s voice cut off mid-sentence by a chainsaw is peak horror. | It adds a new "tracking" mechanic based on sound rather than just scratch marks. |
⚠️ The "Toxicity" Fix
The biggest reason developers (BHVR) haven't done this is fear of toxic players. To fix this:
* Entity Muting: A quick-bind to "smash your radio," instantly muting a teammate for the rest of the trial.
* Thematic Filter: An optional setting that heavily distorts voices to sound like the survivors (Dwight, Meg, etc.), masking the real player's voice while keeping the tactical info.

Actually, that would fix the issue, taking in account everyone switch from their current communication channel to this one. The idea is lovely and would have the advantage of offering an alternate to currently known channels.
But DbD is a game full of people way too competitive and way not fair when it comes to earning a few more bloodpoints… It will not be used at all because why having a bugged and limited communication channel when you can have a map-wide unaffected one ?
