You cannot get banned for tunneling, they specifically say tunneling is not a bannable offense. It's an intentional mechanic that was placed into the game.

People who say this are confusing "targeting" for tunneling, aka harassing a specific player. Tunneling is not targeting and involves actions beyond just trying to get them out of the match as swiftly as possible. For example, in one match, bleeding someone out unnecessarily to the detriment of your ability to actually win the match, and then trying to get back into their lobby to do it again, or playing on their team as a survivor afterwards and trying to sandbag them.

People don't like tunneling, but it is a part of the game and nothing bad will happen to you if you are tunneling out a survivor to efficiently remove them from the match and nothing else. People will likely whine and complain at you, but you can just ignore them, you aren't breaking any rules.

I see im sorry, i usally just go after each of them evenly, though the game goes so bad i need to tunnel (Skull Merchant main)

it was my friend who told me that, they have more hours so i stupidly agreed with them not to tunnel. thank you for clearing it up.

Is wanting to win not a good enough reason to tunnel? In reality you can tunnel when you want. The choice is ultimately up to you if you decide its the best time to do so. Now I wait for the moral warriors to downvote me.

I mean I wouldn't blame you if you did. However I would recommend agaisnt tunneling that surv not because I think it's rude or something like that, but because most of the time that situation the survivor is just trying to bait you into a chase due to probably having anti-tunnel perks (mostly decisive strike and dead hard) so you waste a lot of time on them and likely lose a lot of pressure on the team.

You can but usually people who do that or try to get your attention is usually because they got Dead hard and Decisive Strike ready

Play however you want within the rules and don’t feel bad about it

It's allowed to tunnel whenever you want! But bear in mind that survivors that clearly want your attention usually are doing so because they have antitunnel, so take care when deciding to chase them.

Its just a personal decision, but tunneling can also hinder your personal improvement.

Against most survivor teams you dont need to be good at your killer if you tunnel. So you are not ready if you get a strong team. Against them you suddenly need the chase skills to tunnel and they will bring anti-tunnel.

In short: you can get a lot of wins with tunneling, but you will feel absolutely helpless against some players.

You can tunnel whoever you want, but I'd probably not tunnel them personally. Sounds like they want your attention. They've probably got DS and DH, so they want you to waste your time chasing them. I'd ignore them for a bit.
