Art the clown's potential power(s) / Art's black garbage bag / Items in game
Just some thoughts on creativity and game design, feel free to add to or take away or balance any ideas I've come up with of course, purely for fun and inspiration.
tldr: the title refers to what Art could be if he used his black garbage bag of tools or stole survivor items, or looted the map for himself
Coming from a fan of Art the clown and The Terrifier series; I think Art is pretty devious and even spiteful, he likes to take things and turn it on his victims e.g. making Tara Heyes watch her friend get brutally butchered while she was forced to watch. All that being said I think Art's power could reflect this devious behavior in game.
I think Art should be able to interact with the environment and items in it like never seen before, I think he should be able to manipulate chests, items left behind, and maybe even snatching things from survivors while he hooks them or something (still not a finalized idea lol). But, I thought what if each item he used against the survivors also had their own fitting punishment that would satisfy the player and Art's character design.
Here's what I came up with:
Med-kits - When Art takes a med-kit from a survivor, that survivor gains oblivious, this would take away that safe feeling from either being healed or add to the paranoia to players who are already scared to be injured.
The in world explanation for this could be a false sense of security.
Toolboxes - When Art gets a hold of a toolbox he can rig a generator to explode the next time a survivor starts repairing it. it could explode and make them scream. This is to punish the players who ignore other objectives in the game like hooks, healing and totems, thus the generator shouldn't be compromised for too long for game balance.
Flashlights - When Art gets a flashlight he can throw it at a survivor and hindering them. I think this is a good match for survivors who are too aggressive with their altruism and Art would be the most spiteful to the boldest survivors, also I think the range attack would be a funny mirror to how survivors save from an equal range.
Keys - I think Art should be able to mori a survivor (if they're on death hook) if the survivor is holding a key, this wouldn't be strong too often but it would punish those survivors who try to play it safe and maybe hide for hatch, I think they would be scared to hold the key if they saw Art and would try to hide it away.
Fog Vials - I think if survivors can hide from a fog vial, Art would think it's funny to hide too, the way he toys with his victims mocking their fear and actions, I think making him undetectable when someone uses a fog vial would be a flavorful and balanced choice.
Maps - I think this could be really interesting for Art because he is a trickster in a lot of ways, I think if Art had a map it could mess with auras and the HUD as if Art himself is giving misinformation e.g. a hooked survivor is close to dying or something but in reality they're fine, a chest looks closed with an aura but its actually open and empty, you could have fake statuses on survivors like broken / downed / healthy, or if its endgame it could even say you need to do one more gen. Stuff like that I think would really match and mock (how Art likes) the info hungry teams and survivors.
I think it'd be cool if he also hit survivors with the item he takes if he uses the m1 while carrying said item.
