Generator Regression Needs Improvement
In the battle to slow a gen rush, some killers have very few tools. The only strong general purpose option, Hex: Ruin, is reviled by the community and makes people call you mean names in post-match chat.
Theoretically, driving clusters of survivors off of a generator, kicking it, and chasing them for as long as they remain stubborn about completing that gen, should be a practical strategy. In reality it usually isn't due to two factors:
- Gen tapping
- Generator regression is pretty slow anyway
There are valid reasons why generator regression is not fast right now, and any potential patch should respect those reasons. It should also respect the fact that many killers currently have no way to prevent skilled survivors from doing a gen in their face. I propose the following:
- Generators remain in the regressing state until they have been repaired for five consecutive seconds. Survivors still get normal repair progress during that time. Regression simply resumes where it left off if a survivor attempts to gen tap.
- Multiple survivors working on a gen do not reduce the time required to stop a gen from regressing.
- Generator regression speed increases 50% every 30 seconds. When a survivor resumes repairs and attempts to stop the generator from regressing, this timer runs backwards. Regression speed is reset whenever a generator stops regressing.
I believe this constellation of changes would reduce the frustration of gen-tapping without eliminating its value entirely. It should be viable for survivors to move as a group pounding out gens sequentially, however this strategy is currently too strong because the killer cannot successfully contest progress on the gen without camping directly on it. If the killer is able to win chases near enough to the generator to maintain pressure on it, they should be rewarded with a significant loss of gen progress.
I also propose the following new perk:
- Hex: Vainglory Whenever a survivor within your terror radius fails a skill check on a generator, the generator enters the Regressing state.

The main issue is GEN TAPPING.
Run by clicks should not stop regression.
At least 2 seconds repair so that they can't do it mid chase would already help a lot.
3-4 seconds would be better. Maybe 5 would be already to much.

Gen tapping by itself as in Ruin skill checks isn't an issue but I agree that tapping to stop regression should be 2 seconds channel.

Should be fixed regardless of those who do it to "counter" Ruin, they still have the option to learn great skillchecks or run Stake Out, Small Game etc.
I think the healing nerf should be reversed and regression to be heavily buffed instead, since that is a way more universal buff as not every Killer is any good at keeping people hurt (Clown, Pig, Huntress etc.)

I definitely picked a number on the high side. My thinking is that gen kicking is a significant time investment for the killer, so gen un-kicking should also be a significant time investment for a survivor. 2-3 seconds therefor just feels like not enough. That's about equal to the duration of the killer's animation but survivors don't lose visibility while they repair.

I Never understood why the Initial Kick didn't have a percentage to regress. The Killer takes the time to kick the gen to start it regressing, It goes down a tiny insignificant fraction only to be tapped and stopped.
As it is now Kicking a gen does nothing if a survivors nearby to tap it.
