Perk ban feature

Many competitive games have a ban system like banning characters. So I thought about a perk ban system where every survivor can ban one killer perk and the killer can ban four survivor perks. I thought if a killer player has problems against perks like mettle of man he can ban them. And so can a survivor ban perks like ruin and noed. It would be their own fault if nobody bans Noed so they would maybe stop complaining. I don't really know about the disadvantages of this system. So what's your opinion?

Also killers would have to be able to ban 4x the number of perks as survivors do, to be fair.

But no, I don't like this, and my reaction is the same as people who suggest 'cooldown' periods where you have to use different perks or only letting people use their teachables: Let people play the perks they want to play. Part of the fun of the game is coming up with interesting builds and trying them out. Imagine you've got one of these, get into a lobby, find the perks you want to use are banned. Imagine it keeps happening. Is your enthusiasm to play the game going to go up, or down?

That would be the idea, I imagine. Killers can ban 4 perks, while each survivor gets to ban 1. I'm actually on board with this idea, since it would go a long ways towards preventing any sort of perk meta emerging on either side, leading to more variety. I'm pretty sure most survivors at this point are pretty tired of running into BBQ/Ruin/NOED every match.

@Justicar Your math doesn't make sense. If the killer can ban 4x the perks a survivor can and each survivor can ban 1 perk each, then the killer would be able to ban 16 perks in total ((1+1+1+1)x4).

Perk banning would be nice, both sides ban four perks, that way Killers have to substitute, they get all perks unlocked for everyone regardless if they have them or not, teaches you to adapt play styles.

That's not what I meant. You're looking at it as 4x4 per survivor, when what I and presumably the other poster meant was each survivor gets one ban, while the killer gets 1 per each survivor (1+1+1+1)=4, which is 4x what an individual survivor gets.

How about no. If no one can use the perks they want, then why would anyone play, let alone have fun? You're basically requesting they take out a core element of the game.

This would be a massive, massive killer nerf. Way to many killers require ruin for this to be a good idea.

No, what you are suggesting is just plain unfair. That's not 4x the perks thats 16x the perks.

Anyway, a perk ban doesn't affect me directly because I don't use meta perks at all... I have never used Mettle of Man or Decisive Strike in a match ever, and I have only used Self Care maybe fie times in all my hours of playing. Balanced Landing... I'd lose that, but I don't really need it.

My usual build is Plunderer, Ace in the Hole, Bond and Urban.

Most killers probably wouldn't bother banning these perks... though I get the impression Plunderer might be a top pick soon depending on how EGC play evolves.

But even considering that, I don't like this, I don't like preventing people from playing how they want to play. And this move would hurt killers a lot because killers have much more powerful perks than survivors do. And I don't want that.

The thing is... its a terrible idea.

Just imagine: Survivors ban- Ruin, NoeD, Spirit Fury, Discordance... and therefor they are destroying 2 main ways of stopping/punishing genrushing, so now they can do gens fast, while also they don't have to worry about being found early by the discordance and making m1 killers suffer from not having spirit fury+enduring combo.

What does killer will ban? It depends of the killer. Nurse? For sure it will be a deadhard, selfcare, iron will and a spinechill... Now all perks that are the main counters to a nurse are worthless.

All stealth killers? Sprint burst and Balanced Landing for sure.

Don't forget about all anti-tunneling perks, now they are worthless because someone who tunnels will ban them.

    Camper? Same thing!

Oh and don't forget about the solo queue, where people will start banning useless perks, so the killer have advantage.

Do you know where perk/character ban can work? In games where there are hundreds of perks/characters who are very similar. Why? Because it can make a certain tactic weaker but it wont completely destroy it.

Let's now ask a question. Does DbD needs something to deal with a meta? Is there just 1 meta that destroys all the other builds? No, but many other builds can be so annoying and you know what happen when you destroy the actual #1 meta? More slug builds, more basement builds, more 3 gen protector builds, more impossible skillchecks builds. Is it what you want, just to destroy 1 meta (ruin/noed, spirit fury, enduring, b&c)?
