Map usage

Options

So have been playing for quite a while and was wondering if anyone has any tips for using the map items. I have several across multiple survivors but have the layouts of the maps memorized.

Basically, I am looking for a reason to use them.

    To counter NoEd.

You can find all totems easily enough with a Rainbow Map, or a Map with a Red Thread. That's why I use maps, at least.

Use either the purple add-on that shares the map view with other survivors to share totem locations/the hatchs location, or use the beam add-on to create a giant light beam and show where you are to other survivors or where loot or a key objective is. (Light beam is not shown to the killer so it's actually pretty useful)

The obvious one is points. Throw on some tracking range add-ons and you'll be showered in points for doing pretty much nothing.

A more practical use would be to find totems. Throw on a red twine and a stamp and you'll be able to track totems (as well as hooks, traps, etc.) This saves loads of time since you won't have to check every single spot for totems. The red twine is also handy for bloodpoints since it adds a ton of new things to track. Alternatively, you could swap out the stamp for a crystal bead so everyone sees the auras, or a glass bead so you can mark a specific thing (say, if you found the hex totem).

In a more niche scenario, you can use it to track and mark the hatch if you're playing with someone who has a key.
