Spirit is pretty annoying
Her being able to phase all the way to me and grab me off a generator when I have no clue she's coming feels a bit unfair. Her power in general has just felt annoying to.deal with. Had to deal with them all day today. Can't really say she's op I don't think she really is just annoyed with her phase walk. Any helpful tips would be good.

Watch for moving grass, watch for birds flying away. When you're inside her terror radius, you can't hear her phase. When you're outside of her terror radius, you can hear her phase (unless she's using an add-on), so listen for that vacuum/whoosh sound.
You can also try equipping Spine Chill. It's the perk a lot of survivors use to avoid being surprised by The Spirit.

Unironically the best perk in the game

She's not a competitive killer since the all tactics of avoiding her are based on luck.

Yeah, her continuos "WAAAAH HAAAH" is pretty obnoxious. But gameplay wise? I mean, do I really need to tell you that when she phases you can clearly hear the sounds of her footsteps, which completely kill her stealth even with prayer beads? Come on.

Iron Will with Spine Chill hard counters her.

Don't forget Urban Evasion.

To an extent. I'd call that more a soft counter.

Spine chill is the one of the best perk for survs.

I know about the whoosh though spine chill I wasn't aware. Started playing on PC and its like nothing but spirit all day.

Thank you <3

@applepie_1998 this sounds stupid now, but when you notice she has Prayer Beads just gen tap. She won't be able to grab you then.

Prayer beads, what's a prayer bead?

@Cursed_hatchet Spine Chill User here. Can't say how many times it saved my ass against Spirit, Wraith, Pig, Hag, Freddy and Uncle Mikey. Most underrated perk out there.

Me too. One of the best survivor's perks

i agree.. this is why spirit is my least favorite killer to play against. especially a spirit with nurse's calling and BBQC is so annoying and pretty hard to avoid.. tbh i dont see why everyone were so against the legion before their nerf, in my opinion spirit is worse

Iron Will, Lightweight and Spine Chill is the best way to fight her, she has no power if you have Iron Will. She has a giant hit box though, unbelievable.

First off, I think killers have a brain too, so if they saw a grass moving, I think they would realise a suriviour is there.
Secondly, spine chill is very good (if it's a sleath killer), But honestly useless against a spirit. The surivior won't know the direction of where the killer is coming from most of the time and the killer could have been looking at you before phasing. It also doesn't tell you if she is getting closer to you which could make your drop a pallet too early or vault too early.

You know a survivor can't tell what killer they are going up against before the match, right? So all these planning will sometimes turn out useless if it turns out to be a trapper or a different killer.

She doesn't move vegetation while phasing whatsoever.
Spine Chill is a good perk though that's for sure, and same for Iron Will - which can both help against Spirit. They're not as specialized as many other potential "stealth" perks, so they retain general usefulness in pretty much any build.

Wow, you necro'd an old thread.
There are videos that show how to use Spine Chill for maximum effect. It's good for letting you know to let go of a generator so at worse you get hit rather than grabbed off. It can be godly for juking Spirit in chases.
You are correct, she does not move vegetation. Back when I wrote this, many players (myself included) still mistakenly believed she moved grass. It was soon proven we were wrong. This is an old thread.

Oh lmao, I didn't even realize 😄
I do still like spine chill and iron will though, and I did so in June too so that's something!

Here's my obligatory post literally everytime this comes up yet people still don't learn
Spirit does NOT move grass

Jeez, me and others already said above that yes, Spirit does indeed not move grass. This is an old necro'd thread.

Having ears is a good counter. But seriously... her footsteps are so loud. If you hear footsteps getting closer, stop interacting with stuff = you win.

Also predicting your opponents next action is never luck since Humans can't act randomly. Since there is always a pattern which could be read (and it is in fact optimal to use a pattern of some kind) that means you can figure out what that pattern is and act accordingly.
The reason why having a pattern of some kind improves your odds is because "acting accordingly" is itself a pattern.
So if you opponent has a pattern then you should have a pattern which counters theirs. And if they don't have a pattern then it's 50/50 anyways so you may as well.

Some people use Iron Will religiously, Iron Will is a great counter to all Killers.

My ultimate advice: Play Spirit.

I'm terrible at it but didn't give it much time. I honestly still don't like going against her because I love running other perks and when I don't have those specific perks its basically a get nae naed match for her. Had one a few days ago we got one gen done though I was playing with my low ranked friend. But I guess iron will is about to become my meta

I never hear them. I usually just get a feeling I'm going to get grabbed off and then boom

First off, I don't care if it's old or not and you could have choice not to respond.
Secondly, spine chill doesn't tell you how close the killer is or the direction the killer is coming from. Also, the killer could easily been looking at you before phasing making it harder for the suriviour to tell if she is phasing to you or not.
Furthermore, spine chill doesn't give you super speed or anything so even if you knew the killer is coming to you. You don't know how close the killer is so by the time you move she would easily have landed one hit on you.

Plague And pig's bear trap? They alarm you of where you are. So the suriviour would be gambling on rather that perk would be needed or not.
Also, other killers can see your blood on the ground and stratch mark so it isn't a great counter for all killers.
Not to mention that still isn't enough to counter a spirit because the spirit can hear foot steps, stratch marks and uses perks such as strider to make it easier to locate suriviors.
