Let’s talk about passive strength, Plaugue vs New Freddy
During the live stream, I noticed that someone mentioned “why would I want to wake up at all?”. Let’s compare Freddy’s passive to the Plagues passive.
The pros for the plague are that if you do nothing about sickness, you will be injured and you will infect other survivors, and you’ll also make more noise and be easier to track (windows and lockers will be green). There’s another pro in that if the survivor decides to cleanse themselves at a fountain, the Plague can use this to gain corruption which can be a big game changer. The only con I would say is that she herself needs to go out and get people sick, but when some survivors are already sick, the others will become sick too though paired actions and altruistic actions with sick survivors.
Now for Freddy’s new passive sleep. For those who haven’t watched the stream, all survivors are always on a 60 second timer putting them into sleep. This is a pro for Freddy, since it is a true passive and requires no extra attention or work from the killer. The other pros are that it can change the outcome of a chase, since only sleeping survivors are effected by Freddy’s traps. They also only hear the lullaby when a sleep (instead of the terror radius) which makes it harder to locate Freddy, and being asleep makes his teleporting to generators ability go on a shorter cooldown. These are all pros for Freddy.
There are two things here that stand out to me in favor of The Plague. The first is that once infected, whether the survivors stay sick or cleanse themselves, the Plague will always benefit either way. She can either deal with all injured survivors who can’t heal, or have a ranged laser beam of death on an extraordinarily short cooldown between bursts. The other thing is that getting in a chase with Freddy while asleep makes you prone to his traps which can be mindgamed and can often but not always result in a hit. This is not anywhere near as detrimental to a survivor as simply being injured and unable to heal. It is also much easier to wake up than it would be to cleanse, AND there is no real penalty to waking up the way there is for cleansing.
TL;DR
We’re comparing Plague sickness with Freddy sleep.
Sick survivors are INJURED, BROKEN, easier to track, and give the killer an enormous advantage if they cleanse, on top of wasting time cleansing.
Sleeping survivors are effected by Freddy’s traps that don’t guarantee very much, buff the killer very slightly, have trouble locating the killer, and suffer no penalty whatsoever to waking up besides a small amount of time.
I know it isn’t even on the PTB yet, but what was presented seems like a version of the Plague where instead of everyone being exposed, she just would turn into the Clown. I’d like to see:
A - Some sort of real tangible penalty to waking up
B - Worse penalties for staying asleep
Plague comes out on top either way, why shouldn’t Freddy?

I would say this. What if you’re asleep for too long, freddy will begin to see small glimpses of your aura? The worst part is you’ll know so you’ll panic when it happens.

The Plague's passive are pretty much nullified by Survivors ignoring them completely, just powering through gens and then letting Adrenaline heal them back up.
