Iridescent Shards

So I rather like the new XP progression system. It keeps you coming back for more, it's satisfying as hell reaching a new level, and seeing those Shards slowly stack up is nice to see.
What I want to know is why have you guys removed the 1-10 Shards you receive based on the amount of time you're in a match for? I know you get a similar XP bonus based on your highest emblem, but an extra 10 shards per match on top of the new system wouldn't be too much of an issue, would it?
Also, seeing as we have XP now, any chance we could see double XP events in the future?
