Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Rank System (New Players Only)

With the new DLC, we expect new DBD consumers. We’ve seen threads about product marketing, perk grievances, toxicity warnings...I want to talk about rank.

IMO, it is TOO easy as a brand new player to rank up further than their play level too fast. The first time I hit rank 4 killer and joined the red ranks, I was player level 49 with no devotion. As you can imagine, I found quickly that I was out of my league. I was too inexperienced then to know, but I lacked the chase experience of decent loopers, I lacked useful teachable perks, and back then (2017), I main’d as Wraith.

I don’t even have to mention boosters, intentional dePips, or the flawed SWF matchmaking system.

Unless we want to make a more enhanced tutorial for new players, the only way to learn is experience. Once they learn it, they need to practice it.

I’m suggesting an ‘Unranked’ status that extends to new players for a specific set amount of time or hours played.

IE, I was purple ranked survivor before I learned flashlights can burn Hag traps. I was a red rank killer before learning about moonwalking. I think an unranked category for new players (ONLY) will help prevent them from wandering past their skill level.
