A Problem with Decisive Strike
Don't get me wrong, the old Decisive Strike was absolutely broken and needed to be reworked, but even with this new version, there are a couple flaws I would like to see tweaked in the future.
Currently, the concept of Decisive Strike is that it is an "anti-tunnel" perk, yet there are several situations in which the Killer is punished due to the Survivor's poor choices. For example:
- Exit gate is open, hooked person with Decisive Strike unhooks himself with Deliverance or from RNG when he is the last one in the match. He gets a free escape, because if I pick him up he will stun me and if I don't he will simply crawl out the gate.
- Person with Decisive Strike active goes for for a hook save when I am very close, and the rescued guy has borrowed time and/or Decisive Strike. Going for the rescuer will get me stunned and going for the rescued will do me no good since they likely have Decisive Strike or Borrowed Time.
- Person who was unhooked stumbles upon me despite being out of my terror radius for a large period of time.
- Person with Decisive Strike active is working on a generator in front of me that is very close to being completed, and simply jumps in a locker to deny me the slug.
Here are some suggestions that could be made to make this a more fair "anti-tunnel" perk.
- Upon being unhooked by a teammate, Decisive Strike becomes active for 50/55/60 seconds. When picked up by the Killer, succeed a skill check to stun the Killer for 5 seconds and immediately become the Killer's obsession. Rescuing a Survivor or working on a generator disables the perk. Succeeding or missing the skill check disables the perk.
- Upon being unhooked by a teammate, Decisive Strike is enabled becomes active for 50/55/60 seconds. When picked up by the Killer, succeed a skill check to stun the Killer and immediately become the Killer's obsession. Every 10 seconds remaining on the timer is equivalent to one second of the stun time. Rescuing a Survivor or working on a generator disables the perk. Succeeding or missing the skill check disables the perk.
These suggestions still allow Decisive Strike to be used as an "anti-tunnel" perk, but also prevent Survivors from being rewarded from making poor choices.
Actual feedback is always appreciated. Before commenting why it is fine the way it is and that the Killer shouldn't tunnel please make sure you've read the post and tell me why, cheers!
