Is this why the devs are scared of balancing? (no offense devs ha)
It is said that survivor takes no skill... But why do people say this? I think the primary reasons why people say this (including myself) would be that:
- Hold <repair action> to win
- Killers most usually rely on the survivor(s) mistakes to catch them.
Problem number 2 is being fixed or has been over a long time. With shorter loops, the killer and survivor(s) skill clashes. However problem 1 is a biggie.
Why you ask? WELL...
Survivors escape 30% of the time (I think) which is weird because killers say that the game is imbalanced.
The reason that survivors only escape 30% of the time is because SURVIVORS GET BORED OF HOLDING <repair action> It would be unreal to say there has been someone who has not left a gen and tried to get chased for fun.
The problem is the gens. They make Survivors bored as balls. This would explain why killers feel at a disadvantage; they lose all the time when versing coordinated swf teams that only want to win. HOW IRONIC, survivors blame killers for only wanting to win, but they are only complaining about the survivors who strictly want to win. Killers do not care if they lose as long as they are able to blame themselves for their loss instead of the games fault.
What should be done? Secondary objective that is FUN! (and required to escape)
- Gas canisters would be placed in 3 white boxes spread out with equal distance between them.
- Gens would only have 60 charges
- After a gen is completed, gasoline must be carried from the box to the generator and poured into it.
- A survivor holding gas cannot sprint
- A dropped gas canister can be seen by all survivors and the killer via aura.
- The killer can break the canister (resetting progress as in The gas goes back to the white boxes)
- Gens could not be regressed during the gas phase which would be after the gen is completed
- After a gen is completed, it would need to be filled with gas in 180 seconds or it will completely reset (remember only 60 seconds to complete)
- The killer cannot break the gen after the 60 second repair has been completed
- The killer would be notified when a gen is completed and when it is filled with gas
REASONING FOR THIS SECONDARY BUT ALSO NECESSARY (to escape) OBJ IDEA:
- Survivors are forced to play stealthy after a gen is complete. This is good because stealth is not a very common thing people go for since it isn't very rewarding
- Survivors are forced to be on the go during the match. This makes it less boring and gives a higher chance of interesting outcomes in the match.
- Survivors will not try to die anymore because they are bored. Survivors will be actively trying to win.
- Killers have a more fair advantage versus swf and can win a match based on their individual ability to put pressure on the survivors.
- Overall more interesting gameplay
- Generator times are decreased (again: less boring) Dead by Daylight remains the classic "repair gens and get the fug out game with all the cool movie killers" that the commons look to it as.
- Map pressure-less killers actually stand a chance.

We should have guns in the game, you have to shoot the generator to fix it, like a healing bullet. If you shoot the killer he gets a powerup so don't do it. It's a healing bullet after all.
You have to empty 3 clips not a gen to fix it, and you need to find the clips around teh map. Hitting the gen makes a noise each time you hit it. Go poople run and gun

People keep talking about secondary objectives, just build noed into every match and then the secondary objective that exists becomes meaningful.

I personally don't want a secondary objective. I'm fine with doing totems and opening chests if I wanna get off a gen but that's just me.

I agree a secondary objective would be nice but as a person who plays both killer and survivor I think the only issue is SWF. Solo survivors will have absolutely zero chance to have an enjoyable experience if it's made any more difficult as survivor because the only way killers have a disadvantage is against a well coordinated SWF team. I think that making separate modes with secondary objectives against SWF games and keeping the current for solo survivor might be a relatively fair fix to the game. I don't think people take into account how much of a difference it is when people can communicate and call out everything. It nullifies so many survivor and killer perks.

Little to few killers would willingly play a swf mode they will all take the easy route and play solos. It would make finding matches so unbalanced so that's definitely not the way to go. I know most people wouldnt want to go get bullied by swf in the first place when they can go play solos

I think the reason why theyre saying that is so NOED isnt a surprise, and cleansing the totems is never deemed a waste of time. ATM anyone who cleanses dull totems feel like they wasted time when they see the killer wasnt using NOED, and that they shouldve spent that time on gens instead.

This a good idea, but i dont think it should be labled as a secondary objective in which can be choosen to be completed or not. A lot of people will tear apart an idea because they get hung up on wording and not point trying to be made. More so a new way to satisfy the escape conditions of the primary objective.
There would be kinks to work out like would the gens start making sound before filled with gas? Maybe it would just be a low rough idle as its not able to throttle up being almost empty. But still a good idea none the less 👍

I’m sorry but this is TERRIBLE. when I play SWF killers quit alllll the time, but they don’t care if they lose??? Loool OK. How about you go play civilization. Plus that gen idea is terrible, left 4 dead did that back in 2008. “I have 3 seconds in game hours GG” killers literally fly across the map and hit you, yeaaa “skill” I’m done.

Based on the stats the devs released a while back, the survival rate of survivors at rank 1 is 80%. Thats why we call the game imbalanced.
